Stonehaus

by Stonehaus on 08 June 2008 - 22:06

Helmut Raiser won this event.   I was told that Ivan's protection was about the bad grips. The dog had no power or presence. I was told that it was not an SG performance. By the way, Ivan left the field as they called the competitors back for the presentations. Sportsmanship?

I also heard that the judging was consistent but as tough as you will see. They docked for all handler help and took into account the grips in bite work. Kudos out to John Jabina with High Protection with a bitch!

Who took high tracking?  What is the tie breaker for that?  Overall score?

BTW, I didn't think that Ivan's score should have been much higher, just a little, and yes the dog did not show a lot of power or presence.  Remember though for a lot of these teams, this is the 3rd big event in just 2 months for these guys.  That's gotta have an affect on one's performance, nevermind the heat!

I think T floyd got the high track.I believe it reverts back to who has the higher protection score.

Maybe higher overall score, because Charlie's dog had the higher protection score.  Guess I'll have to see if the scores are posted yet......

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I was only going to go yesterday.  But ended up going today too, because I really wanted to see who was going to win.  Left the dog fur and mount laundry home.  :)   I had my calculator out on my cell phone figuring out who needed what to take the lead.  LOL

Stonehous where were you sitting?  Just wondering if we ended up being close, as I'm sure that could have happened and not even known it.  LOL  I met so many people that I hadn't seen in a very long time.  Four that I hadn't seen in 10 years, since I moved out of that area in NJ.

Unfortunately , I was not there. I was stating information I got by phone from my training director.I wanted to be there but I had my 2 1/2  year old boy all weekend and that was enough of a challenge at home. It had to be tough on everyone.

It reverts back to the higher protection score, if there is a tie.

T. Floyd, did not have High tracking, he got a 98, there were 3 99s so they fell back to the youngest dog for high tracking.  Hight protection was not Charlie it was John Jabina, he got a 98 no one was even close, however, it came down to the final two competitors in protection, T Floyd and Helmut needed a 94 to win, T got a 91 and Helmut got exactly what he needed, a 94, it ws very exciting.

Judging was fair and impartial. In protection, judges looked for power
and presence. They liked dogs that pushed the helpers and acted like
they really meant it over dogs who played the game to win the sleeve.

In determining placement when there was a tie score the team with the
younger dog took the position. Ivan surrendered his placement because he
was not able to participate in the closing ceremonies since he had to
catch a plane.

High in Tracking: Ralph Gilby with Billie v.d. Eisspitzen
High in Obedience: Todd Shilkret with Odin v. Argatos
High in Protection: John Jabina with Jabina Dighte

3rd place: T. Floyd with Karlo v. Floyd Haus
2nd place: John Jabina with Jabina Dighte
1st place: Helmut Raiser with Finch v. Loyola

Helmut, in some brief comments after the awards ceremony, said that he
would keep one half of his winnings for the RSV2000 fund and then shared
the other half in equal parts with the top five placements - except
those who already had won separate high score purses. Very sportsmanlike!

I loved having been able to attend this event: a Schutzhund competition
without borders. This wasn't about which country would win, it was about
the individual teams, about people and dogs showing what they can do
together. Many of the competitors were in the stands watching and
sharing their thoughts on what they saw and all of it was appreciative
and positive. It was overall a very classy show.
