Don you are so correct. The best dog ever wasn't even a pure bred. She was my best friend from age 4-16. NO titles but she did win at a local dog show for her OB when I was about 9. I hope someday I find that ribbon in a box packed away somewhere. I will set it by her box of ashes I keep on my side of the bed.

Every year the GSDCA awards the Hero of the Year to a GSD. I haven't belonged to that club for a few years, but the ones I remember winning that honor were always "just someone's pet" that had done something truly remarkable like saving a person or child from a fire or from drowning.
My special dog hero was too sick to ever earn a title, but if not for him I'm not sure I'd be here today thinking about him. In mind my he was and still is the greatest dog ever born.
