Fullforce, you said in another thread  you are from Michigan? You sure don't sound like a US citizen or have you defected?.

MI-GSD,

Know what you mean about the Dobermann's.  We have a female in our club that is just awesome in everyway.  We're also in your neck of the woods, Jackson.

i just had to throw in my 2 cents on this one.........maybe nobody really cares anyway, but i must say, poodles ( i have a standard 6 month old pup) are great dogs. our fluffy is much calmer than spunky, things don't go flying with her in the house. she is not hyper, walks great on a leash, does not chase the cats either. no, she would never be the working dog of my dreams, that is why i have spunky. poodles are great for anyone who wants a calm, quiet housepet, great with kids and visitors, good at alerting to anything strange outside, and (big plus for me) don't shed. they are higher maintenance of course, but i keep ours in a standard puppy clip, and she is such a beautiful girl, she turns heads everywhere we go.

Blitz hates standards; he was routinely beaten up in his OB class by a white bully in a continental clip. Blitz was  way too proud to ever fight with a dog with pink toenails, but he had his revenge at graduation when he won the  mother of all prizes- a large stuffed teddy bear that poodle had been eyeing for 10 weeks. Blitz won it by whooping the pants off the poodle and all the other dogs (including 2 Goldens) in the agility race- that poodle ate  that Alsatian Herder's dust. When Blitz won, he was allowed to take the toy of his choice from the trophy table. He looked sideways at the poodle and took that teddy bear. I swear I saw a tear in the poodle's eye.  And this is a true story.

GSD's and Alsatian Herders rule...........

LMAO @ Blitz!

Back when my mother was showing Weimaraners, she had a Poodle incident that still kills me.

Her one male Weim hated Poodles.  She was never sure why.  They were at a show at Cobo Hall in Detroit when this Weim decided to pee down the side of a freshly groomed Standard Poodle that was waiting to enter the ring.  The Poodle turned around and tried to kick the Weim's ass.  Meanwhile the male handler of the Poodle was attempting to kick my mother's ass who was trying to make a quick exit from the show hall.

There is never video available when you really want it.

Tammy..I took a quick look at your website and saw that Dobe.  Do you happen to know what lines she is out of?

I think its the money/showing emphasis that creates the elitism & snobbery seen in SCHh.  And it is sickening & disheartening to many, especially newcomers. Better have thick skin.

Yet in PSA, you see little of it. Junk yard dogs, pound dogs, all breeds, Pits, Bullies, Mal Xs. If it can work, it is welcomed. And theres alot of comraderie with owners. No breeders really, least no serious money in these type working dogs.

I did see a PSA trained Dobe weeks ago that was awesome. Handled Mulitple attackers, serious environmental distrations, he could take it all.  Excellent grips & awesome obedience.  It changed my entire perception of the Dobe. Had never seen a good one prior to.

I think the Working Shep people are good people & am sure there are some in the show lines, just havent met many. My 02c

I've seen the same attitudes from many people who raise animals to compete.   Dogs to horse's , even pigeons and game cocks.    Its human nature even if its not his best nature.

Yes a thick skin is a must.

Alli - LOVE THE DOG PIC!!!! :) :) :)  LOOKING @ GETTING A FEW MYSELF....ANY SUGGESTIONS?  (and no, i am not getting out of the GSD's)

S.Babe - good for you...love the post!  there is BS in any breed when it comes to breeding, selling, training....whatever.  But what is really unfortunate is how many have come here looking for info, insight, help, suggestions, (all with good intentions), only to be ousted because people like to act like they are better than anyone else, or how their dogs are crap simply because they don't have the "right" (their own) Bloodlines...the list could go on.  Honey...i'm with you....I could care less how much you spent for your dog(s)...i have what I have, I'm happy with what I have, they are perfect for me and do what I want them to do at this point in my life.  Bottom line, each of you should look at it this way.....If you can look at yourselves every day in the mirror and know that you are a decent, honest person...GOOD FOR YOU! :)

Christine
