Naaa, don't make promises you can't keep. You'll find a way around that - why? cause you want to, and for people like you, that's all it takes. It's evident you don't give a damn about the breed.
Everyone is intitled to their own opinion, LOL......
26 inches = 66.04 cm
Go figure.... Telling the truth does not constitute "bashing".
Don't worry, SW, you won't get any definitive answers from your UKC "judges".
In the meantime, show your dog and enjoy him. Don't breed him if he has allergies. Stop trying to say that your dog meets the breed standard by cramming him down the throats of knowledgeable people on this forum (as well as setting yourself up for failure on the GSD World and on Shepherd Central by antagonizing their mods/admins).
Big deal if the SV accepts LC's for show purposes in January 2009, you still won't be able to show Chaos at SV shows due to his size and his lack of recognized working titles (required for a breed survey).
Have you considered doing something "pro-active" for you and your dog by creating your own UKC and/or LC forum?
Hey guys, come on over to the denial thread, were having Tequila!!!!!Everybody's happy.
The long hair is just cosmetic. The lack of known working abilty is another thing. But PLEASE do not consider breeding a dog with known allergy problems and possible temperament issues I am living the heartbreak of a dog that has itched his entire life and had PF and weak nerves. (he was a show working cross. I love this poor soul as all of us who have had one do, but he should never have been born. It is not fair to do that to anyone and you can help prevent it by not breeding him.
I don't know what it is with dog shows and "right to breed". I knew a lady with a Greater Swiss Mt Dog. Dog was an AKC champion, x-rays came back dysplastic. She did not send to OFA and decided she just had to "have a few litters" to make her money back from all the money she spent showing.
In regards to telling people to stay out of YOUR business. Do you own this forum? I figure anything posted here is open for comment. People get emotional because complacency implies agreement and other people just learning about the breed need to know about these things.
I know you left another forum because you did not hear what you wanted to. You are the one posting about your wonder dog all over the forum. If people start personally harrassing you or other wise causing you problems you have a legitimate complaint. If people argue with you over what you are doing because of their love of the breed and the shambles it has become - well guess what it is a public forum.
In my mind, once you indicated you might breed this dog, you crossed a line that did not exist while you were just having fun playing with dog shows and people have as much right to express their opinion as you do to drivel on about your dog.
Everytime I say anything that has to do with SW or Chaos I get jumped all over--mainly because I dislike LCs but I have been following this for days now and I just can't keep my mouth shut.
I can't figure this out about you SW-----are you in dire need of attention or do you just get off on people chewing your ass about breeding your coat--oversized and with allergies? Or do you just really not give a damn about the breed as a whole? It's like you like to push people's buttons. I guess I just don't understand.
You say you have people pming you--then you and all those guys should start your own forum or group....that way you can antagonize each other to no end and keep the topics as you like them.
By the way Louise UKC already has a forum and SW frequents it.............
For anyone's info yes I did get mad about a longcoat beating me in UKC because it is a serious fault. But a UKC CH is not the end all to me. I got my boy for OB and that is more important to me than a CH--I just thought it would be fun to see if we could do any good. I firmly believe any purebred registered dog that walks on 4 legs can get a UKC CH--just depends on how much time you are willing to spend promoting your dog.
I have learned a lot on this messageboard--especially what not to do to make friends--and I am going to stick around even if I don't say much........I have noticed people come and people go and those gameheads as I call them eventually get tired and go........but I learn a lot here and I want to continue to learn the breed as I truly care for the GSD and its future.......
hehehe, I don't blame you, seeing as even though UKC allows coats, they still consider it to be a serious fault. I thought maybe the other dog bit the judge or had floppy ears or was a panda or something.
Nice try everyone, but SW lives on her own planet.
Stupid is as stupid does.......You can't fix stupid.....Stupid never takes a holiday and my favorite once spoken by The Duke, John Wayne - "Life is tough; it's tougher when you're stupid."
Blitzen: "SW lives on her own planet."

Planet? Is this what her nifty black and blue logo is? LOL
Wow, this was an interesting topic to read. Louise, I found your examples of why ears might not stand very informative. I hadnt even considered the hair on the ears of a LC to be a hinderence to why they wouldnt stand. I dont own a longcoat and all of my dogs ears have stood before they were 6 months, so Im not a huge help here. There is, however, a woman at our club who has a 10 month old working line. Small ears, been given every supplement, bone, toy, remedy known to man. Hes been getting his ears taped since he turned 6 months. Currently they are attemting to tape his ears and then leave them up for 6 weeks without touching them. In his case, I fully believe its genetics (several dogs in the bloodline have 'soft' ears, friendly tips, late to stand ears, etc)and I kind of hope that his do not stand. I normally wouldnt say that, but I know that if they do get them up, she does plan to title and breed the dog and I dont see a use in perpetuating the situation. I pulled the best conformation dog I had from any breeding plans the day he went over the height standard. Its a damn shame, but you do what you have to do. Sue said: "My point was that perhaps the faults we don't mind as much are those that our own dogs have, or in areas we place less emphasis on. I think that's human nature, all of us are kennel blind to an extent." I totally agree there. Visiting any breeders site, you can see what faults (however minor) that they mind the least by looking at their dogs. Looking at these posts you can see where the controversy in the ring happens. We all have differant viewpoints and we are all talking about the same breed. I dont think that things should be done just because 'everyone does it', but I do understand the mentality of 'well if they are doing it, why shouldnt I'. Its an interesting fork in the road, so to speak. You can see down each way, but which do you choose?
