"There was obviously some problems with line communications and the given scenario was a mix of patrol officers and specialty personal and guns were discharged in properly.  Some policy changes did come out of this situation."

Yep, yep, like I said, tactical error. Just because they made a tactical error doesn't mean I am attacking them Vargas. Still trying to get a hold of my "emotions" though.

Gard,   It seems that the audio is ahead of the video....  hense hearing shots fired before seeing any bullets hit ????   Did you mean the audio is ahead ??  and not behind ??    Just wondering cause that's how I took it when I viewed it.   for hearing the gunfire before seeing any bullets strike the building, the dog, or the man.  seems audio is "leading" the video or ahead not delayed.

A question for the cops and K9 handlers on this board: does an officer remove a dog's leash before releasing it? Because this dog clearly has its leash still attached, and it could be he broke free from his handler once the officers opened fire. If that's the case, his death was clearly not the fault of the police, as he ran right into the line of fire.

I'm glad to know SOMETHING positive came out of this tragedy!

Did the perp survive?

harddawg,

dont be so sensitive, i was not making a personal attack against you, what you said was reasonable and rational.  My comment was directed at the posts that were obviously made on emotion, not a rational thought.

Sunsilver,

it would depend on the dept policy if the leash was to be removed.  some agencies may require the leash to be left on because they know they have a weak training dept and it is easier to control the dog on a leash.  I was at a k9 demo a few years back and one of the k9's had a shock collar on at all times because he was to unpredictable around people.... so it really depends and would probably vary greately from dept to dept and state to state.

Both died, mistakes were made for sure, but I am not going to second guess what happened or who was at fault.  And the dog was sent to apprehend.

Their was more going on behind the scene with this then people know unless they have some inside info.  Again the video that was released to the Internet was intentionally messed with, the timing is off.

Sorry Vargas, I just had to pick at the "emotions" thing!

That sucks! Someone trying to prove police brutality, eh?

What a sick world we live in!

"This  can only happen in a country where is the eager to shoot and carry weapons , morons"

Ilse,  this was a lesson learned for all that view it. You can either choose to obey the law or fight the law here in America my friend. If you don't this can happen to you and really to be honest, the bad guy in America is the reason this great dog is dead. Or did yall miss that too?

Sooooo .... in America you can have your choice, people here in America are dead and dieing for that choice too, and to mention for complete strangers and countries too as we see today.

Some people appreciate that, some don't.

I'd like to mention to you IIse, would it have mattered to much to you if it was an explosive incident instead? America has dogs that do that also. We have bad guys over here that like to blow things up sometimes, we have dogs that just love to bust em'. Should this be moronic in your opinion? And for who, the bad guy or the American? Peace.
