First to Funky Munky - re your last post.  A one word post (bump) is not a contribution to serious dialogue about our breed.   Please write something constructive one way or the other to reflect your genuine views in this matter.  Please, make it worth while.

Secondly, to David Payne - two good posts, particularly the comment on apathy.  I hope to hear from you regarding the mail I sent to you direct on the Videx site.

Mackenzie F.M. was only bringing this topic of conversation back to life !

Thank you to the people who corrected me on my comment to Funky Munky and an unreserved apology for my ignorance on the modern terminology.   It seems that I am older than I thought .

Kind regards to all

I would like to make it clear, that my considerations towards having a dedicated tabulated page on my website for GSD Breeder/Exhibitors within the UK with a Kennel Club Affix, for them to answer a question regarding if they agree to the separation of the GSD and the Alsatian into two separate breeds, is in no way to be taken as ELITISM. I have selected this group so they can be readily identified and everyone of them can have the opportunity of STATING their answer, simply YES or NO, to this most important question. Those that do NOT answer will also be readily identifiable.

A similar exercise could be conducted for other groups within our GSD and Alsatian breeds, here in the UK, and may be considered.

OK, thanks for that, Sue and David.

What about sending a "ballot paper" out with every BC magazine as well?  That way, we should cover a few who don't have, or no longer have, an affix.  Other requests for ballot papers could be dealt with through...???   Any ideas... print one off, complete and send to?

Mackenkie, no apology required, thanks Reason and George. I have been posting and reading this thread from the start, there have been some excellent contributions, Missbeeb, Liebe, Wildmoor, Paul Rattigan, Bill Owen, Jim H, Lyn C, Reason, Videx, and especially SueB and Mo, have all made this thread very interesting. Now i looked in this morning and read a post from Videx," offering GSD breeders/exhibitors with a KC affix", i thought that rules me and a few others on here out. Iwas going to comment, thankfully i did not as i have read the latest thread by Videx and thankfully he aknowledges that not all GSD enthusiasts are breeders, exhibitors. I have not shown or bred a dog since 08/06/00, however my passion is as strong today as it was 40+ years ago. I vote for a split, whither that counts or not!!. I also agree with Mackenzie and commented a while back about the lack of " big wigs" posting here, i hope there are tens of thousands of people like the ones mentioned above doing something positive out there. Good luck with whatever is decided. liz

please dont take this as a negative as it is not ment to be one, but how can one determine who has the right of a vote on splitting the breed if you do not have an affix, then how do we know if you even have a gsd or even the slightest interest in the breed it could become very messy with uncle tom cobbly and all voting i think the only way for it to be fair is to use affix holders only with one vote per affix so all joint affix holders would have to agree on what way to vote again its just a thought not ment to be negative.

Jim, I disagree.  There are many of us out here who don't breed, ot no longer breed or show but still have an avid interest in our breed.  Why should paying the KC for an affix be the deciding factor for being eligible to vote?

missbeeb   then can you tell me how we can get a fair vote how could you stop someone who has never owned a gsd from voting how do you know who has the breed at heart, if by using the affix holders then you at least know they are breeders of the gsd or alsatian the last thing we would want is pom breeders etc  voting on our future as i said its just a thought and not meant in a negative way so as you see it would be the people who are breeding our breed that would decide the outcome i understand where you are coming from just dont see any other way round it.
