Spook, you truly never cease to amaze anyone here with your grand wisdom. we know they are not wolves you ninny, But we do know the ancestry of Canids (or at least most of us do) therefore understanding the "makeup" of development, or evolution if you will. And further once you understand evolution it should make the statements above even moreso true with regard to multi tasking abilities.
We understand that you are not quite there yet, It's ok.
And ummm I'm not the only one thinking along these lines or would not have brought it up, Several of my Breeding Mentors agree 100% and have been trying to get this message out there however with the generation they've had to work with I understand how they were unable to penetrate those narrow little minds such like yourself Spook, and be careful one gal I speak of is 77 years old and even I would not dare to tangle with her. Love her !!! and Respect her greatly.
So please keep your disrespect to a minimum, I will be understanding as I know it's not your fault that you are unable to learn anything, Possibly just your genetic make up.
It took 'several' people to put that fine breeding program of yours together? After you receive your GED go back and read some of the crap you've written.
Listen. This messageboard is for opinions. Everyone has one and most give them. If you are looking for advice, read what is here. Please don't take it all in as fact or correct. You need to decide what you believe is the right thing to do with your dog.
Every dog is different and so is every person. If you're asking this question, then the likelyhood of you getting on the podium at a national event is very low. More than likely, you are going to make a million mistakes with this dog anyways. Learn as much as you can with him. Keeping him in the house will probably be the least of your concerns if you are just learning the sport. After learning with this dog, you can answer this question yourself when you get the next dog.
Spook,
I train sch dogs, never buy them. For me, the joy is in the training.
When I say house dog and when I say not isolated from other dogs, I don't mean they are together 24-7. Of course they would bond completely with each other. What I do mean, is that they are not completely isolated from other people interacting with them and from other dogs.
I disagree with blanket statements like they have to be kept in a kennel to reach the podium, and never be dominated by another dog to fight the man.
Where are most police dogs kept? In the house when they are off duty or in a kennel? I know of both.
Top competition: V scores consistantly, participating in regionals and nationals, 100 points in a phase, how would other people define it?
Changer
You had me at hello!
Stop the argument and just give the poster your opinion and why you believe it is the best way to go.
You're not going to get anyone to change their mind on where to house their dog. If I was a newbie to this sport, I think I would sell my GSD, buy a Golden Retriever, pack a cooler full of beer, and hang out on the boat. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Besides, my dad is bigger than your dad.
spook read the post again, I think you must have read something wrong, or oh well maybe just try to read it. if you can.
and your takin shots at my lit. prof. haha.
Changer makes some Valid observations and points. I hope Changer will stick around. Don C. as well.
Jiggy,
My bitch lives inside the house and she does just fine out into the schutzhund field. The people who told you this kind of nonsense are NOT good trainers. YOU DO NOT have to prison up your dog to show it's drives. If the dog doesn't have what it takes.. then sell it and get another dog that does have the drives.
The only thing that you should NOT do is to buy a bunch of stuffed up animals and let your dog chew on it.. that will develop chewing habits during protection time.
I'll bet Brittany has titled as many dogs as EchoMuddles.
spooky are you seriously that jealous ??
You are the most rotten nerved outfit I've ever come into contact with.
Bad Temperament, No trainability, weak genetics, poor socialization, and a total FEAR BITER !!
Geezz You are WEAK !!
Ohh but before you dissapear, what was the name of that dog you Titled again ?? oh ya you never did say did you. and you won't because you have'nt and your a ghost.
