Interesting ... not the question ... but the fact that someone looks for an answer to that KIND of question .... SO:
For people that have no conscience, no concept of right or wrong [ thing to do] I wonder how much hope your children have ?? Odds are [ for that kind of question leads me to suspect , again stressed here 'suspect' ] in general ,[ not pointed to anyone specific] , the person that asked that kind of question may not be able to THINK for them self .
By this I mean ... Never you mind what someone else does or says in life .. To you should be your own concerns and responsibility : t
Thay is to say : what matters as far as what YOU do and what YOU say in life[ or would do or say] should be your concern. THAT is the question you should ask [ of yourself ].That is YOUR concern , Your RESPONSIBLITY. Not worrying about what someone else would do or say !! What therefore then does what other people have to say become your affair of living life ? Think for your self and have virtues such as , character and integrity etc etc. . Then the answer is straight forward . And in doing so .. I hope , that we realize " ALL life is sacred and precious. Not only/just our [ singular as well plural use of the word 'our' ] own ."

You never heard of hypothetical?

@Centurian
Since I posted about asking the question...are you talking to me? 🤔

This conversation is about the variable degrees of social responsibility when one knows the identity of a criminal involved, particularly how one manages a balance when the criminal becomes your own kid. I think we all have different thresholds. That's what makes it a question--to state or debate.

It shouldn't be made into a personal indictment against someone, just to ask or even to answer a question. If you don't want to answer the question, simply don't bother.

@vk4    Yes, that is it! You said it ever so much more succinctly!

It was an absurd position. For most of history it was common to marry 12 year olds and send 5 year olds into full adult high risk labour in coal mines and to crawl around fixing heavy machinery in mills while these primitive machines were still running, same owning other humans as personal property. through social discussion these things now seem obviously abhorrent.

Was there something wrong when society was discussing these things??

Ridiculous.

I would like to discuss preemptive attack as a form of defence against a credible threat, what does that mean, I am of dubious character??
