No, I get it! Blade is good! I just don't pick call names...I pick registered names and that's hard enough! LOL

I can think of all kinds of really sick Halloween costumes for him...and whoever ends up with him can just say "you should see the other guy" when they ask about the big slash down the middle of his head.

"You should see the other guy" Geez, this cracked me up. It would be neat to see future Halloween pics for sure...

this is my blue yorkie. She started out with full hair, no signs of alopecia.
And of course, I was dumfounded when I got blue yorkies out of standard color yorkies.
Not to mention, years ago, i got blue dobies, out of standard colors. Seems that blue is a little more prevalent than some would like to acknowledge.
Her body is bald as can be, and no, it is not very attractive on a yorkie, and no doubt would be totally unacceptable on a shepherd.
and with my research on blue yorkies, i got the same type of BS info that comes with the shepherds from people that havn't got a clue.
did you know blue yorkies do not live past 6 months, while little miss beebs is 5 years old....
     And the beat goes on....

I would guess it has something to do with this puppy's fontanel development rather than it's colour.  I've seen pups with a pronounced midline almost like a scar, even one with a split vulva where there was a delay in the midline closure development, so I would not be surprised if this sort of thing can happen with other areas of the body.  Will probably never bother it and look no stranger than the cows licks you see on some dogs heads.

Margaret, I was thinking that. I also was wondering about all the inflammation this guy had in his head (remember, he was the one who went to the vet for the lymphadenitis and the squeaky voice) and if it may have affected his fontanel development like you suggested, ie, the "manufacturing defect" that my vet friend described.

Kitkat, poor Yorkie! Yes, that's definitely blue dog alopecia- all her blue hair is missing and the tan is there.

This guy does not have a very nice coat- he never did. Neither did 2 of his brothers, but they're all improving. They had ratty tails and really short, sparse covering of ears and heads and are just the last 2 weeks or so, now starting to get a really nice undercoat. I may not have noticed their mole-ish coats, however, had the other pups not taken more after their show side and had that really plush, fluffy puppy coat. Their color doesn't help- when the coat is the same color as the skin underneath, it looks more sparse than it is. I looked at everyone's ears and they're barely less furry than the other pups' ears, so here's to hoping he'll catch up and have a cowlick like Margaret says, not the Grand Canyon!

LF, LMAO. Do you know we almost named him Einstein?! Papers haven't been filled out yet...there's still time to change it...Wink Smile

KitKat i use to groom a blue and white pom white the same problem. Anywhere he was blue his coat fell out. But his white areas looked normal. Which made it  look like he'd been set on fire and put out with a golf cleat. So they had him shaved down all over to make it less neglected. I'v also seen this in blue Chia's. But i've only seen thin poor coats in blue pits, never totally hairless. Course a hairless pit bull might be an awesome trend! We could claim they are hypoallergenic. Same for the GSD, just get them to be hairless and BAM there you go Hypo guard dogs.

Same here. I've not seen really bad blue Pits (well, not their coats anyway...I've seen plenty of bad blue Pits!) Dobermans, yes.

Dang, if I didn't just get a pup I'd take a blue puppy with a bad combover as a sport prospect!
