VK...if humans were any smarter they would have domesticated bears years ago and used them instead of dogs...would that have offended you still? or is it the word "domesticated" that makes is acceptable?

Some animals cannot be domesticated, the ones that could have been, there's a reason why.

moons nothings up i just wanted yr opinion on my pup latest session, kind of complimenting you.

LF if humans were any smarter years ago they would not have put galileo and a bunch of other smart people in prison or to death and we would have 500 years of science behind us instead of less than 200 and hence we not have had the need to domesticate animals and we would have figured a way to live without wiping out their habitats and would have the brains to appreciate and care for nature and not have this paranoid, fearful christian hatred of nature....answer yr question?

Moons, I don't know why, but there's just something *specifically* about bears dancing, riding bicycles, hula-hooping & that sort of thing, that gives me the sads.  It makes me feel embarrassed for the bear, like we've taught them to mimic us so we can feel superior to them.  I feel the same way about making non-human primates wear clothing.

I agree that the bear in the video certainly seems to be relaxed and happy and not at all stressed, but the image saddens me nonetheless for the reason above. And yes, it would seem the bear in question is being treated with more respect and kindness than many a pet animal receives from the person who allegedly 'cares' for them, and the latter makes me sadder than I can put into words.

ggturner, in response to your question, do not approve of it at all.

i only wish i could make people see for themselves how this degrades all involved, the animal and the humans. if i can do that somehow i will have lived to some purpose.

Hexe,
I do know why, I got the same feeling the last time I went to the circus....here I agree.
If the guy uses the bear for such things I will once again agree, I didn't see that in the limited video.
I also agree with degrading animals,,, kinda like a hand kerchief around a dogs neck.

Part of keeping any animal in captivity is having activity for them so they get stimulation, exercise and interaction without exploitation, this I can except.

i guess being a bear is part of it, but there is also a difference in the environment and purpose of the training.
I just don't have enough information here to call it.
Wild animals should remain wild, but we know how that's going, I don't really care for zoo's at all, but some captive animals can be kept in a way that doesn't offend me considering there's no wild habitat left for some of them......... No pat simple answer fits all.
