Steer clear of a man named Bob Fox....... he is located in ohio. He makes claims of being a trainer and claims he trained with Dean...... but if you talk with him you will clearly see his knowledge base is limited to only what he can google. As far as decent Al Gill in Northern Ohio has had some nice dogs but i cant speak to his training style or quaility of club.

Doublecheck on availability on clubs. Some of the USCA clubs mentioned are full and not accepting new members.

It's the dog world equivalent of what they refer to in professional fishing as, "master baiter."

When I was selling wholesale auto parts to large conglomerates, there was a contest for wiper blade sales and the winner was the "Master Blader." I think the prestige attached to both titles is about equal.

There absolutely is a "Master Trainer" title, although Helser definitely does not have one. Most state and the national Police K-9 organizations have certified "Master Trainers." You can look up NAPWDA, which is one of the governing or certifying agencies for Police K-9 teams. Master Trainers are the ones that over see training and yearly certifications for K-9 teams. All of our dogs certify in both Utility / Patrol and Detection work each year, the Master Trainer conducts the certification tests or trial. A true "Master Trainer" certification is not an easy designation to get.

The problem is not with the certifying body, so much as the problem is in those who decide to put the ADJECTIVE of "master" instead of reserving the spot for the TITLE of "Master Trainer." There most definitely IS a title, but 9/10th of those touting it, aren't.

The question then becomes, who "certifies" the "Master" trainer as a Master trainer? These titles in my opinion are all bogus since there is no International or even National accredited school that you can attend for 4 or 8 years and get your degree/title.
There are all types of organizations out there that will certify a dog or you or both, for the right fee. The certs are there for liability purproses, in case the dog screws up. If you know how to train a dog, titles mean absolutely nothing, your ability does.
