as this thread continues to grow, it brings up more questions. why are there two clubs? 3 if you want to include dvg. most other countries only have one. also, where does the awdf fit into all of this. john

Question - why do people have multiple scorebooks? If you are a DVG member you *must* use a DVG scorebook at a DVG trial. If you are a USA member I believe you must use a USA scorebook at a USA trial. I don't think the WDA cares what you bring (altho I could be wrong.....) BUT If you are a USA member (and not a DVG member as well) with a USA scorebook, you can enter USA, WDA, and DVG trials and use your USA scorebook at all of them. Likewise I believe that if you are a DVG member (and not a USA member) you an use your DVG scorebook in DVG, USA, and WDA trials. About the breed clubs. As I understand it, the FCI is over "everything dog" in the world, in a manner of speaking. That organization is international. In Germany, for example, their national all encompassing organization is the VDH. Below that is the all-breed working dog organization of the DVG. Below that are the breed clubs (such as the SV, ADRK, etc) In the US, again, as I understand it, the AKC is NOT a member of the FCI, but is simply the recognized registry. The AWDF is the umbrella organization (not related in any way to the AKC, by the way) for working breed clubs, and organizations like USA, AMWA, USRC, and so on belong as member clubs to the AWDF. Now, I think that where we get the split with the WDA and USA as 2 GSD organizations is that the GSDCA is the official AKC breed club, and the WDA is part of that. Years ago they banned any activities that involved biting dogs, so the WDA has been a 'shadow' organization in some ways. I have read that technically if the WDA followed the GSDCA/AKC stance on biting dogs, then the WDA would not be able to even have Seiger Shows because of the performance test. Catch is, now the AKC has started the working dog sport program, so where all this goes from here.....??? Maybe someone with a clearer picture of the structure of world dog organizations can help or correct any inaccuracies in my above statement.

<<<>>> USA/SV Registration - about 6-8 months SV Registration - abot 6 weeks USA Registraion - after about a year and a half - still waitng. Uwe

<<<2) Most of the USA clubs in our area (NE Region) are very unfriendly, unwelcoming.>>> This is a big problem I hear about all the time with newbies contacting me regarding there treatment when they go out to some of these USA clubs. The behaviour of some of these club is going to hurt memberships in USA as people will go to alternated org. <<<6) Don't like the way the politics were going in USA for awhile, especially at the local regional level, but perhaps that will change.>>>> I don't think that will change anytime soon. Too many one dog wonders that think they are God's gift to Schh..LOL Great informative post's Shelley. Uwe

Assistance, ii needed, for those actually bothering to review the WDA trial results: go to the website. Click results. Particularly check O G Agua Dulce. Nia

Wow, everybody should check that out. Interesting trial results from last spring out there.

<<>> This has been brought up for years. Funny thing, USA is aware of it (which they really can't do anything about it), WDA is aware of it and the SV is aware of it and it continues to this day. So much for SV 2 dog rule...LOL Uwe

The WDA claims to follow SV rules and standards, but they pick and choose at times. SO much is not defined and there are windows left open - accidentally, or not?? Someone once suggested that the WDA couldn't define rules about trials and anything involving bitework (in this case, a Seiger show) because they are affiliated with the GSDCA and the AKC (ie. until now, against anything involving bitework).....but then how does the WDA manage to have trial judges? There was an incident at a past WDA Sieger Show where a KKL2 dog was awarded VA. It turned into a mess, when if all the rules had been spelled out by the WDA it would have been much more clear cut how the whole thing should have been handled.

It is not the only club seemingly habitually displaying that type of results. Even one of the brand-new WDA clubs has done it, repeatedly, as well. Those results are on the website and published in the latest WDA newsletter, aswell. (I can't imagine how anyone missed it). :-) Those types of results demonstrate my original point...which is why I referenced them. The SV judges involved clearly demonstrate some "issues" that put everything else (including numerical scores) about the trials into question, huh? :-) This is an entirely different issue than struggling clubs unable to field a full trial entry from within the club. The SV and USA rules prohibit having the same judge for a trial within 12 months, and there must be another judge brought in in-between. Nia
