Are you referring to me Ladyfrost? I don't believe I have ever been disrespectful to other members.

Marko...no...LOL..the main two characters...they just don't realize how alike they are hence the reason for budding heads...it is always fun to see two smart a$$es duking it out...its a whole different level of intelligent insults without one word out of line....it is a rare occurrence....just sit there and watch....

Thanks Ladyfrost, I hesitated to post on this thread but I can understand Rik's frustration. I also wish no one confuses as I did initially vk4gsd with vksgsd

Now, my paranoia sets in....I suppose you are referring to me, ladyfrost?

Vk,
as for missing out experience if you are referring to table training or bromance....pass.
No, I was referring to seeing some of the top working dogs in the world and also seeing some of the top trainers in the world. Your dog goes back to SchH line dogs, there is no way to get away from it. In order to learn you have to stop knocking and insulting things that you don't understand or lack experience in. I was simply saying that you would be missing out on seeing some of the top dogs and dog trainers in the world. Sure, there will be lots of sport dogs there, but there will be some very "real" dogs there too; if you know what to look for.
I always find it fascinating when people knock sport work and then you see the videos of their dogs in protection. Not directed at you vk, but when you work a dog with a sleeve and your daughter is giving the dog bites, or some other inexperienced decoy is doing stupid shit with the dog.............please don't call it personal protection training. Just call it what it is,, my BYB dog is bititng a big pillow that some one is holding. Don't brag about your PP trained dogs when they won't bite a guy in suit on TV. Just a pet peeve of mine...... Dog training is dog training and every venue has something to offer. I have gone to agility classes to watch the pros work their dog and learn from them. I see many things in agility, OB, AKC tracking events, RIng sport, hunting dogs, that freestyle dance stuff, guide dogs, SAR dogs, and even dock diving that absolutely can be taken and used with SchH dogs and Police K-9's. I'm impressed and often amazed by anyone that can get a high level of performance from a dog in any sport, venue or area of work. I can learn from all of them and there are skills and techniques that I may not know about, understand or have ever seen. I know just enough to know that I don't know everything and can always learn more.

"that freestyle dance stuff,"
Oh, Slamdunc, the shame....
freestyle dance???
Seriously, though, you've summed it up perfectly: ANY activity that has dog and handler working as a team offers an opportunity to learn something useful to one who seeks to keep improving their skill in communicating with dogs. Circus tricks, earth dog work, lure coursing...there's always a kernel there to be gleaned, tucked away in the trainer's toolbox for just the right dog at just the right moment. Hell, even watching awful training or handling offers instruction to one who would strive to be otherwise--you can at least learn what NOT to do without having to directly suffer the consequence!
vk4gsd, I asked about your dog's background out of honest curiosity, to help me put your comments into perspective. I'm not interested enough, however, to go wading through a year's worth of posts to search out the instances where you dropped your breadcrumbs, which is basically what your response directed me to do, so I'm not going to waste any more thought on the subject.

Have you seen that stuff? it is awesome. If I didn't have two left feet, had a sense of timing and the least bit of rhythm, Boomer and I would be killing the cha cha. Not to mention the fact that he absolutely refuses to wear a tootoo.
