My black GSD, Silas would want to attack thunder, too. Didn't someone say something about "cracking the whip" and this is not exactly desirable, either?

LOL GSDLineage, my kinda dog Wink Smile

Maybe Bee, but that is certainly a good test for breeding stock :)

I don't think lighting firecrackers off on the ass of a dog is a good test of a dog for anything other than showing the person doing it is a fucking moron.  There's being temperamentally sound and being brain fucking dead.  Being 30 feet away like many were is much different than having them go off directly behind you.  I'd expect any dog worth a shit to at least react with firecrackers going off right behind them if they have never been exposed to that before.  It's what happens after that would be more important.  Not doing anything to build your dog into that and then cranking the shit out of it to keep it there is stupid.

regardless, I highly doubt this was a test of breeding stock.

RS - Everyone wants a dog that is stable and sound.  Everyone wants a dog that isn't going to freak out when they hear fireworks or thunder.  I don't think the video was of a test to determine which dogs were gunshy and which ones weren't.  I think it was a training exercise to teach owners how to deal with dogs that are gunshy - incorrectly I might add.
