I live in a city with young children in the next home on either side and across the street.  Due to recent tragic events, public officials are very touchy about weapons discharged around children's homes and my cop friends have advised me to NOT shoot the dogs due to this new sensitivity, just document, document (my iPhone is ready to record video whenever I take my dogs for a walk so all I have to do is push record).  Also, I own "dangerous breed" dogs (according to area laws and insurance rules) so my dogs are automatically seen as the aggressors until proven otherwise, which is unfair and just plain sucks.  Luckily, a couple of county workers witnessed the entire event from start to finish so my dogs were in the clear.  Also it occurred on my property (walking my dogs is a different story), the driveway was a bloody mess. No area vets reported dogs brought in for dog fight wounds (they were asked to let AC know if dogs fitting my description were brought in) so I worry those dogs did not receive veterinary medical treatment (not that non-vets with proper training can't take good care of their own dogs).  The idea of video cams is great, I will have to find some that do not require drilling since I live in a rental that I was extremely lucky to find.  Most places here will not rent to "dangerous breed" owners so I was very very very lucky.  I am just hoping the owner has wised up and won't let his dogs run loose.  Now dogs left outside to bark, howl, whine for hours at a time is another story even with the county rules stating dogs can not be left outside for more than 15 minutes and are not allowed to make noise for more than 5 minutes total in a 3 hour time span lol.

Alright guys, does anyone know where I can find a used dog cage? (One to catch a dog?)  I can't figure out who the owners are, and the dogs had been gone for a few days, but this morning they came back and wow! The white one with black was running back and forth incredibly fast, striking at the fence, barking, biting, etc.  The one's I thought had a bbgun......well, they actually don't.  I asked my brother, but his is broken.   I will never resort to using a real pistol obviously, but I need to catch this dog. Others I talked to on our road said animal control will not come out here.  Some of the cages to catch dogs I looked at online are a couple hundred dollars, I don't really care to get something I'd only use one time and pay a couple hundred dollars for it.  It ran through my grand fathers yard after it ran (their is a field inbetween) off this morning; All he has is a shot gun and a pistol, other wise he would have done something

I think it would be better to hit the owner's in the head with a Paint Ball Gun...

If you have a problem with a neighbor and/or their dogs...As you're doing any or all of the above mentioned I would certainly be keeping records of what and when you've done anything...Like When you talked to the owner...When you've seen the dogs doing what...and so on...Keep Records...You might need them in the future...

Q man, there's a problem though. I was told (by the owner's neighbor of the chocolate lab that attacked Buck) that that dog is not the same dog. They look identical.  My best guess is these two dogs running together are from the trailer park if that's the case, that's the only thing I can figure.  The trailer park is behind the field that is behind our yard.  The dogs do have collars on, I know that.

hmm..what if you use car/lawn mover battery and use jump start clips by clipping them to your fence...just keep your dogs away from it but when that dog will bite your fence it should get a good jolt...
yes i know women are cruel and nasty...sorry..its in our nature..LOL...but it sounds like its either shoot them or teach them a good/memorable lesson...

I'd just like to give an update on my situation. Bob you are absolutely right about documentation. Thank goodness I am a picture freak. I heave pics of the dog chewing on my fence, I have a video of them saying what a b,,,,,, I was and how I couldn't control my dogs. How I've made their life miserable and on and on. This morning I called my lawyer friend and he told me what I needed and to bring all the info by. I just have to go and find out who owns the house. I've heard in some cases the landlord is responsible for any damage his tenant does to my property. A week ago this past Friday the tribal police came out and I guess they put the fear of God into her because when I got home the dog was tied up and has been until yesterday when I had a big fence fight. Guess cause it was Sunday that made it OK. Another thing I have decided to do is my house is about 25' or so from their property and I am going to run a chain link fence from the end of my house to the end of my property--it will make a nice long extra pen that could even be split up. So until I can get my wood fence replaced that will at least put a stop to the fence fighting. So all I can say is if they disliked me yesterday they sure aren't going to like me any better today.................

I had the same issue, only the dogs were attacking my horses.

I trapped the dogs and took them to AC. They were euthanized after I told them they chased my horses. To be honest, I did not know this would happen. If I had known, I might not have said anything about my horses. As it is, there was a law in my county that dogs who chase livestock will get euthanized if they're turned into AC.

Anyhow, don't use a BB gun or paint gun! You will get slapped with animal cruelty charges if anyone sees it happen. Catch the dogs and take them to AC. Keep doing it and the owners will get sick of paying the fines and either a.) put up a fence b.) chain the dogs up or c.) let AC keep them.

Have you checked Tractor Supply? I know I've seen them there, not sure how much they are though... Could try Craigslist too, but that's probably a long shot. Does Animal Control have one you could borrow?

Dawulf, I've tried Co-op, the humane society, a vet that I was told use to have traps and one of them did.  I haven't tried tractor supply yet, but their website did not have any that size.  I called animal control this morning, and they transferred me to a line, which was nothing but an answering machine.....I left a message on it, and no response back at all today.  I was told by the humane society if the animal control does not cooperate then to contact the sheriff's office.  I've known one of the sheriff's here for years so I'm going to see from him if they can trap the dog.    I have a dog kennel outside right now that is 5 feet wide/5 feet long......I thought about seeing if my buddy down the road could rig up some type of door for it that would shut when as soon as he stepped on something (same idea as a small animal trap);  Maybe a wood board that falls down like a door, or something.  I'm sure he could figure out something to do on it though that would work, and it would hold a dog that size.

Good Luck GSD Guy.............geez what a pain people are..................

OK I am going to tell you guys something--I am going to shout--THESE IDIOTS WENT AND GOT ANOTHER DOG............A WHITE GSD.......................Thank you for the shoutout. Looks to be about an 18 month old--I can only see through the holes in the fence--I know she is a bitch cause they were doing AKC competition type stays and they kept saying Good Girl. They brought her out off leash and I think the cows across the road caused her to bark--then my dogs barked and of course I was a bitch again.

Since I can't control my dogs, glad they didn't see me and Mauli at the fish fry yesterday with zillions   of kids.  Or even last week--there's a golden type dog that hangs out--me and my friend were working and had the garage door open and she was running in and out--she took off toward the dog and I shouted Keyo, which means no but they think it means stop--minti tushpa and that means come here on the double--she stopped and then turned around ad came in and sat right in front of me--Whew--we've been working on that one. Anyway Ray said dang girl.......so yep I have no control...................

Bottom line is I don't look for them to be there long anyway...................poor shepherd.............
