Thank you Jim for a sober and sane post.
Now I know where folks are coming from and why some post as they do.  Yup, explains a lot. Tongue Smile

Legalized Marijuana would bring with it the rif raf and prostitution?
That's ridicules.

Drug testing was mandated by insurance companies and it was also thought to boost productivity.
The tests I saw said just the opposite, and along with lost productivity due to the loss of what were good workers it was found to be not cost effective and alcohol was not being tested for at all.

If people had real facts and education about the substance it would be a no brainer.
The pharmaceutical companies would rather you didn't know the real facts as it would cost them billions of dollars.

The crime only comes from the extreme profits because it is illegal.

Since most of you are women we won't even discuss prostitution..lol

Moons I don't think many 'ladies of the night' have just a pot habit.
Crack etc more like it.

Who say's (ladies of the night) have any kind of habit?
Drug users may resort to prostitution but that's only one aspect of prostitution.
Many prostitutes are only interested in the money and have no drug habit.
There is a difference between a professional and a street walker.
Just ask Charlie Sheen.
Some of the ladies make six figures yearly.
It is legal in places well controlled and licensed.

Anyway,
men will see this issue much differently than women is what I meant.

LOL,
nope out of my income range.

The closest I ever came was a massage parlor back in the sixties when such places were common and we were drunken teenagers trying to impress each other.

And what would be wrong with legalizing prostitution anyway? I think the girls could have to stay current on their health, they could tax it like everything else.............if that's the kind of job a girl/woman would want to have I see nothing wrong with it. Like Moons said not all are druggies, not all are streetwalkers. I think the ones who hang in the streets and on the track as it is sometimes called are the ones who are more prone to being into drugs, carrying diseases and to being abused and possibly murdered.

All of which is true Vonissk and I'm with you on legalisation. Where I think Moons
has it wrong - and maybe this is a difference in how men & women in general
see the prostitution issue - is in the 'Many prostitutes are only interested in the
money and have no drug habit' statement.  Can we take out the word 'many' ?
I'm certain there are statistics to show that if this was ever true, it isn't in todays
world ... and I don't know there is much difference in terms of addictions between
working girls on the streets and the six-figure 'salaries'  the penthouse hookers
bring in.  Wherever there is a pimp, there is almost inevitably a drug problem,
keeping the girl in harness.  Women who do sex-work only for themselves are
somewhat rare; women who work because they really want to rather than have
to are pretty rare too.  JMO.

Good post. I said above I thought not all were druggies but you know I think I want to retract that statement.  My best online friend used to be a dancer and a whore--that's what she was and she'll tell you--I was talking to her last night about this and she enlightened me on a lot of things. The use of drugs was definately one of them. Now that brings me to a wonder--I wonder if they had a drug/alcohol habit already or maybe being a working girl turned them more toward it? And Hund as you mentioned about pimps, yep, that adds fuel to the fire. Hmmmmm More wonderment for the day................I know the fancy ones you see, like the Charlie Sheen girls, don't get out and walk the streets and all that. But I think those kind of girls are in the minority. The things you see on tv and in real life are set in more run down neighborhoods where there are plenty of drugs also. How do I know this? I lived in Dallas for over 20 yrs and I'm not stupid--they're easy to pick out. And certain neighborhoods are known for certain things, as in any large city. Cut down on crime--just legalize it.............

by mtndawg on 13 November 2012 - 17:11

Legalization may raise crime, but not because of there being easier access to marijuana. The gang and dealer element is going to have to find new ways to make $. I live in CO, and since the medical stuff passed, the cost of marijuana (just from what I've heard of course) has been cut in half. This new round of legalization will drive prices down even more. Adults will be able to grow their own. 6 plants a person.  There  will be issues for bordering states though, with people trying to get it to their home states.
