Laura your boy might grow out of some of that, hopefully so. I remember when my big guy was young he seemed very sensitive; as he grew older a lot of the symptoms subsided and he could almost eat everything anytime. His coat never looked that great though and I attribute that to auto immune disorders of various types; did not give him all this new oil either coconut or Salmon so much though.
I tried the anchovy/sardine oil and all my guys did good also. Hope that works for you (and him). I also now have an older picky/skinny/finicky boy and believe me that has been a challange to master and as he has gotten older seems he has kidney issues but I will tell you that raw has done wonders for him although it took me a while to find something he would eat day after day and for whatever reason that is chicken necks. He loves them and eats 6-10 daily; will also eat pork riblets only a couple though; and likes pork necks but will only eat a couple of those also and not enough to sustain him. Won't touch any of the kidney diets which are crap anyway, but I have cooked rice/meat. Won't touch it actually makes faces at it.
What I have found that kind of works is The Honest Kitchen (LOVE) formula which is beef; for some reason probably cause it's easy to digest that works and they formulated this food for finicky/picky/skinny dogs as the calories are up there like 500/cup so if they only eat a cup of food a day at least they will get nutrients and some calories. Mixes easily about 5 miniutes in warm water and it is ready to serve. Food for thought. Best of luck Nan

2 people now have asked me if she is a puppy (one this morning) and she is 10 yrs old in a few weeks time ! I'm thrilled with that, and she is obviously feeling good.
Also, she has had elbow calluses for a a few years that I have tried all sorts of things on to reduce them and get the hair to regrow, honestly you name it I have tried it. So I have been rubbing coconut oil into them on a fairly regular basis for the last month. YES! the hair is beginning to regrow. I noticed a fine down appearing over the whole surface a few weeks ago, and that is now thickening up into real fur.
HM - Try the organic virgin coconut oil, I get it off Amazon. It is solid, like candle wax. I am totally sold on it.
I might try mixing some up with some sugar to see if it is palatable enough for me to take some LOL.
Edited to add: I just tried some again, I got a different brand this time, Bionta - and it actually isnt bad, tastes quite coconutty and I just let it melt in the mouth, so I think I can manage a teaspoon when they have theirs. Hope it has the same effects :)

I tried to find the stuff from walmart that someone had mentioned. Apparently the workers there just don't know anything or the one I went to really didn't have it. Gonna try around some other places and see if I can find some for my dog. I don't really want to order it from online, if I don't have to.

I love ordering it online as it's so easy, and you can get some great deals too. But if you don't want to and cant find it elsewhere most health food stores will carry it.

Weitel; I found it in the WalMart vitamin section; it's a good brand also and about $10.00. Virgin organic coconut oil. Nan

Does that mean Asda should have it, in England ?
Abby my Taz is same age as your nrly-10 girl; but people ask me if he is a youngster
all the time anyway LOL. So far the Salmon Oil doesn't seem to be making a jot of
difference on him; now he's been on it a week I can start giving him a bit more ...
so looking more likely I might join in this Coconut Oil try-out.

HM
People have often been surprised at her age, but not actually asked if she was a puppy - that tickles me LOL.
I got a nice big tub of the Bionta one on Amazon for about £14.99 and free shipping, but I know you can get it in Holland and Barrett. Don't know about Asda, I don't have one near me! I am sticking with this one though, since I can take it myself, because I want to feel as frisky as she feels LOL. Do let us know how you get on if you do try it out, I cant speak highly of it enough, and mine love it.
