Joanro, thanks for the offer! We may take you up on it after the new year some time...baby coming in December so not much traveling until then ;-) I've had the same experience with herding instruction lately...not so much my dogs getting sick but we have ended up spinning our wheels a lot.

While looking for training methodology came across this interesting read.
People who compete in the sport of schutzhund and breeders often like to quote the founder of the SV. But which point of view did von Stephanitz have? One can look it up in his book, The German Shepherd Dog In Word and Picture: "The true and most noble job of the German shepherd dog is of course looking after the herds and, as the name says, specifically the sheep herds."

This is a training session from yesterday, the 19th. Chekta will down when the goats are hemmed up, working on her down when the goats are moving away from her. Promise I did not hit her with the stick, ever. :).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wCWIm69M8I&feature=em-share_video
