That's great news, Marjore. Too bad it happened in the first place!

Too bad destructiveness cannot be channeled for the good. The world would be a different place!

I am kind of shocked there are only 6 dogs entered on the database with epilepsy ! We all know there are many more dogs with this problem, and without dna tests for epilepsy, I would have hoped the GSDBBR might help avoid doubling up on such an awful problem .. :::::sigh::::::::: Ignoring a problem doesn thelp cut down on the incidence of the problem- it just helps embed the problem more deeply in the breed....

It doesn't surprise me at all unfortunately, this beautiful breed is in a lot of trouble. My girl "Nikki" has EPI and there is a total of 10 entries
And just overall there should be thousands of entries but it's easier to ignore it because after all its all about the dollars

You are right, Michaela- there should be more entries for all the horrid diseases that plague our breed.... Caretakers of a breed, the breeders, have a responsibility to do the right thing. Although there are no cures for many of the diseases in the GSD lines, the bullet could be dodged by not doubling up on the lines with these problems. No one said the lines should immediately be removed from the gene pool, but by not doubling up, the incidence of transmission could dramatically drop. I have said this before- ALL lines have health problems and no dog lives forever, so come out of the closet, people, and SHARE information!!! This is the ONLY way the breed will have a positive future. Ignoring problems will only lead to the breed imploding :( Its on its way there, now, if things dont change. :(
