Yes, the herding dogs here seem to be WGSL bred......although, I am currently extremely in love with a deceased dog named Nurmi (though I admit to never having seen him work but I can appreciate his extremely proven performance ability) who also hails from these lines. I also like the PA HGH stud.  But, there may also be a DDR stud out there!!

I am so excited about starting herding with my DDR girl..very interested to see how she will react.

Thanks again,

Small world, I have a Nurmi g grandaughter if we are speaking of the same dog. I also co-owned the bitch he was bred to that produced multiple Sch3, aglity titles, UD, herding etc.  Nurmi was also HGH trained, but not titled due to some unforeseen circumstances getting him to Ulf's trial.

Mollyandjack,

As far as I know, Ulf's dogs are SL's for many generations. I think many of his pedigrees are here if you're interested - Quasliner Moor.

Maybe the dogs you are thinking of aren't registered? I'm only seeing a few dogs I would consider showline.

You're right, some are combinations of both, a few mostly showlines. Guess he has found the golden middle. Kinzel would be a good person to talk to about that.

Ask Ulf. All the HGH titled dogs  I know of are GSL's many from his breeding and one Urus son. It's my understaning that is hard to find any DDR or mostly DDR dogs today let alone one titled in HGH. You may have to revise your goals if you want to breed your bitch.

The dogs I've seen most recently are working lines or mostly (like 7/8ths) working, often going back to some old DDR bloodlines.

Ulf's dogs have been predominantly working lines for a long time now - several generations of his breedings.  Of course he would be the best one to ask about bloodlines in this country who work in and/or are titled in HGH.  My Brix v Eichenluft is titled (by Ulf) HGH, he is a black working-line dog and over 1/2 DDR lines from both sire and dam sides.  I know Ulf has titled some show-line dogs for people, but his own dogs are not black/reds.

Also try looking into dogs out of Bali Panta-Rei. Bali retired on a ranch herding & protecting live stock. He had offspring with natural herding talent also. I own a grand daughter of Bali that is showing very good natural skills in her early herding training. She even tries to herd our loose chickens / ducks back into the coop. LOL
