Hi Emoore,

I'm not a training expert by any means but I have some experience with your situation.

I have a 1 year old intact male in agility as well.  He's my second german shepherd agility dog.  When I started him in agility, he liked to give the other dogs the stink eye and he liked to pick fights.  And of course, in that much of a wired environment, you don't have a lack of dogs willing to reciprocate.

This is the way I approached the situation:
I kept Obi's prong collar and leash on during class.  The only time I would remove the leash is when he was training on an obstacle.

At this time, the instructor would stand between Obi and the other dog.  If Obi broke away from the obstacle and ran toward the other dog, the instructor would tell him "No go back".  I would go get him and correct him, until Obi's focus was no longer on the other dog and we would rerun the obstacle.  Sometimes, I would have to snap 5-6 times before he would break off his attention (each correction was progressively stronger then the last).

While the other dog was training his obstacles, I would practice the wait command and reinforce the watch me.  Obi was not allowed to look at the other dog.  He would get snapped when his attention drifted but he would get rewarded when he focused on me.

This is what worked for me.

If you stay with this for long enough you'll start to notice that your dog will start to get a high from running the obstacles.  And the worst you can do to them is not allow them to run a course.  Their attention will inadvertantly switch to running the course rather than the dog next to them.

Hope this helps...
Sonia

here in Denmark the police k9 are all males and all have to work together or close to each other when searching or other type of work they have to work side by side no matter if its the worst enemy just beside them

they must learn to tolerate other males and dont lash out
