Thanks yellowrose of texas and pete, what do you suggest for feed for mom?

Two Moons

Moonshadow,
Dogs like dirt holes, mine do.
And yes pups die, 12 was too many anyway.

They like a dirt hole because it is cooler and to them cleaner than a dog house or hard surfaces, the gentle slope of a hole keeps pups in the center and away from being crushed, and fresh dirt can always be dug up.
If it was dusty simply moisten it a little, it will pack.
The problem is location of said hole, not out in the open without some type of cover.
Also I would not have moved them for the first day or two unless it was because of the elements, sun, rain, what have you.
It was her choice and you said she was smart.

Mine give birth outside usually in winter, and usually in a dog house with a dirt floor, never a problem, except I too have lost one here and there from one thing or another.
My point is if you breed, you will lose pups on occasions, it happens.

Feed well, keep them fit and active, and try not to interfere with the process if you can help it.

Now that the pups are older put them where you like and give mom no other choice in the matter.

Moons.

p.s.
On food, I don't feed raw as some, I use a modest kibble, but I add to that at different times such things as eggs, cheese, canned salmon, meat scrap, and anything else that will sweeten the pot always moist to wet for a nursing bitch.

What I do NOT do is feed man made suppliments, or shove pills down my dogs throat.

Why do people put other down? Does that make them feel good about themselves?  That speaks alot about someones character if calling others ugly names because you disagree or think things should have been done differently. I dont think anyone can tell someone what to do with their dog. You can always offer advice. You get  more flies with honey than vinegar.

Hey moon, Feed mom at the very least a high quality puppy food, and alot of it. Raw Liver, Goat's milk, ground beef, cottage cheese, and lots and lots of water. Remember, She will need 150% more first week of lactation, 200% 2nd week and 300% 3rd and 4th week . Good Luck  Pete

At least moonshadow can make a post readable, which is more than I can say for jade.

oh good lord.... Jade did you read the rest of the thread before you posted that? The OP did NOT get the dog to breed, wasn't planning on breeding the dog it was an accidental breeding, those happen from time to time in the dog world, even when the dogs are owned by a knowledgable and reputable breeder.
