Oh, my goodness. This is SO complicated.

Who are the JA? I don't know what that means....
So, basically, USA gave me the wrong information again? *throws hands up*
Ok. I have to stop thinking about this for awhile because my head is going to explode. Sorry.

JA stands for the Johannes ammendement. That is the thing that prohibits you from being a member of both the GSDCA-WDA and the UScA at the same time. He is a member of the UScA and is the one who came up with this (hence the name). He is an active in the sport (he is still alive). It is very confusing and sucky. I would say go to whatever club is close to you, train your dog and worry about the scorebook crap later. You do not have to have a scorebook to train. Go out have fun. Who knows, things might change.

Sara,
Since you are a GSDCA member you can join the WDA. You can get the GSDCA-WDA scorebook from the WDA and it's accepted at their events no problem. They have a good presence in New England. You can still show at USA shows with your GSDCA membership. It's very simple that way. The WDA uses SV judges so their titles are recognized by the GSD community, even USA. Don't ask me how they accept titles from SV judges in WDA scorebooks when they don't except WDA scorebooks, they just have to and do. Another long story that does not make sense.

To Randy's point, it is disheartening and somewhat daunting for newer people (and veterans alike) to wade through these requirements. It certainly was for me well before the JA; the myriad of acronyms and affiliations alone not to mention the very straightforward breeding standard seemed ridiculously difficult to cypher. And, when I asked questions people too often threw out more un-helpful acronyms or were condescendingly dismissive. To, Sara, you are on the right track and obviously have the passion to keep making phone calls and coming back to this forum until you get your path figured out. For what it's worth, I genuinely applaud your tenacity and have no doubt you will get it done. Best regards to you. Kevin Nance

Thank you to Dog and Kevin. I feel a bit better now that I forced myself to not think about it for awhile!!
I contacted a USA Club and they may let me train with them without becoming a member. I figure I'll do that (assuming the DVG club doesn't work out) and worry about showing later.....
I don't need the extra stress!!

There are excellent training opportunities in groups that don't bother with the politics of a club. Where are you? There may be some groups that offer training outside of a club affiliation.

you can train with whomever you want....no rules against such....join a club and trial..nothing has changed. people make it more difficult than it has to be. Choose between the organizations and trial. Both have there own problems:-)

Except clubs do not want people to come train with them who will not be USA members. Go talk to them and their little exclusive circles.
Since it is all so easy...find me a club and let me know. Thanks!!
At this point, I have had it. The begging and pleading to be allowed to have the privilege to train with these groups is getting old. Nevermind the fact that I can't title..or maybe I can if I jump through a hundred more hoops.
I am done with the whole schutzhund thing. Screw them.
