You lot are really exciting me  -  I`m sorry I misread iyour post Peterlee, how I came to make SV read like WUSV I have no idea, old eyes happen, but so do old brains.  Will try to get that now.  Mo.

Hi

As has been pointed out, the GSDL could be an existing vehicle to unify and progress the aspirations of  genuine GSD enthusiasts in the UK. It is a truly nationwide club with a wide scope of activity beyond facilitating KC dog shows, having a vibrant working organization with active branches ranging from Fife in Scotland to Dover. Anyone who doubts that that is the case should note the number of trials organized, dogs qualified and the huge turnout at the recent AGM. The Working Branches are more than willing to accommodate genuine enthusiasts who wish to join them and, as noted, the GSDL is hosting the event on 25th April; I hope that this event gets the support it deserves.

AT NO TIME ON THESE THREADS PREVIOUSLY OR NOW HAS ANYONE OR ANY CLUB BEEN ASKED TO CHANGE THEIR NAME - THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE AT ALL.

THE GROUP IN SCOTLAND IS A COMPLETELY NEW GROUP (IT IS NOT A CLUB) AND THE NAME HAS TO BE AGREED BY THE ATTENDEES AT THE MEETING.

IT IS A NAME THAT WAS AGREED ON BY THE 2 FOUNDER MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP AND IF THE MEMBERS WHO JOIN THE GROUP VOTE TO CHANGE IT THEN SO BE IT.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON NOT TO KEEP THE NAME OF YOUR CLUB OR ORGANISATION.  I AM SURE THE LEAGUE WILL NOT WANT ANYONE TO CHANGE THEIR ORIGINAL NAMES AND OF COURSE PERMISSION TO JOIN THEM WILL HAVE TO BE DONE OFFICIALLY IN WRITING I PRESUME TO THE LEAGUE DIRECTLY.  THEREFORE EACH BRANCH OR CLUB OR GROUP, ALTHOUGH RUNNING ITS OWN AFFAIRS AT GRASS ROOTS WOULD STILL BE ANSWERABLE TO THE LEAGUE AND ITS CONSTITUTION AND THE SV AND WUSV VIA THE LEAGUE.

THESE ARE ACTUALLY THE PETTY ISSUES THAT HAVE PEOPLE LAUGHING AT US.

OUR GROUP IS PROGRESSIVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE SO JUST LIKE THE WEST YORKS CLUB WHO HAS HAD THE GUTS TO TELL THE KC TO GET KNOTTED.

THE HEADING OF THIS THREAD TELLS YOU THAT THE BIRMINGHAM SHOW GROUP WISH TO USE THE WORD AS WELL, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE????????????

dont think its a problem Aileen, I think its just a point that folk wonder about - dont forget you and I are eating, sleeping and digesting it - to others, they are watching and hoping it will go forward in a positive nature, and offering support.... whats in a name, its the actions that matter, and Scotland are showing that to the full.  Good luck for tomorrows meeting wish I could have been there but Saturday is a problem for me otherwise I would have been proud to have been there supporting.

Good post Nugget, thank you - I also think the League is doing brilliantly, and will support their Regional event in any way I can as will others.  We can satellite from their well organised grouping for sure - I for one see no reason why not.  Sounds like Shirley and I will be thrashing our thoughts about this week-end, so back to let you know what we have come up with,

whether `tis nobler to leave the stage and let them sink,

or

whether `tis nobler to get this large premier association on its feet again Fit for Purpose.

or indeed whether `tis flippin noblier and noblier to do both.   Wish I was born triplets.

No problem Aileen, its just that Landsgruppen type shows are normally run on a regional basis and at the end of the day Scotland may want to hold more than one regional show and although the word progressive might be suitable at the moment to describe what you are doing the club/s you are creating would by definition be progressive because they would be based on WUSV rules and regs for exhibition and breeding. So just thought it would be nicer for the future of the Breed if Scotland had their own normal sounding regions (as I believe they would want more than one Landsgruppen type show held in Scotland) so just thought names like The Scottish GSD Northern Region and The Scottish GSD Southern Region might be nicer for you all. Obviously they are PROGRESSIVE BECAUSE YOU LOT RUNNING THEM ARE PROGRESSIVE and the word Progressive could form the basis of your constitutions Aims and Objectives for the breed.
Just a thought. I too would love to have been there tomorrow to offer you my support but you all know you have it anyway, along with all my very best wishes. Looking forward to working with you all when West Yks GSD Club runs its WUSV Regional Landsgruppen show and by the way West Yks sent our letter to request we become affiliated member of the GSD League over a month ago.!!
All the best, good luck for tomorrow

Agree absolutely. The name is the least of our worries. I headed the thread as I did simply to show that because one club is so barking mad as to vote ‘yes’ to this KC nonsense that does not mean that progress has to hit the buffers. Onwards and upwards no matter what these skunks do.

Why all the doom and gloom for once i can see a bright future for the GSD breed in this country we can have our regoinal shows in each region which can be run along side the KC type shows we can put in place a new registration system to run along side the outdated KC system we have an oportunity to do this breed the biggest favour we can and i know that the regional shows will be well supported because they will be shows we can all enjoy without looking over our backs, the time has come to stand up and be counted we can have the best of both worlds and pretty soon most people will stop going to the KC shows and concentrate on the regional shows and by then everything else should be in place to give our breed the justice it deserves pure bred GSD with all current health tests being shown and given top awards because of what we are about to embark on THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT THE FUTURE IS THE GSD so come on lets get behind the regional events and make each and every one of them a show to remember it will take time but i know as a breed that we are more than capable to make it work.

The future is indeed bright - the KC has handed us the impetus to get off our ***** and make a difference and the losers will be the KC and those who submit to their bullying!
