There should be really nice weather in Ohio around that time, as I recall from growing up there.

Hi All:
Just received word that we officially have been awarded the bid for the WDC. I'll continue to keep everyone updated until there is a website for the event. We'll then do our best to keep up-to-date info on the site. Until then, if there are any questions, please let me know.
NIA: I'll make sure the weather is nice. We figured out a way to control that for trials :) It will rain a couple days before, be cool in the mornings for tracking, and 60 and sunny the rest of the time. In all actuality, that can be some of the best weather for Columbus, so long as the rain stays away.
Hope to see everyone there.

Great News!! Just remember--High Scoring Bitch is MY sponsored-trophy. I invented that damn thing, so I have first dibs and first right of refusal on sponsorship!!
Period (Check it out--it was not offered at national events, until I started sponsoring it about 1998!!).
I will check with Sue and Tina to see if the three of us will co-sponsor a "Double X TM " ("XXtm") trophy for this event. I invented that one, too!!!

Great news Jim. This is a nice venue and Jim's club just did a great job hosting our 2009 regionals.

"Nice Job" hosting the 2009 Nationals, It was horrible!!!, Need to take notes from the Triple Crown people, now they hosted an event!!!

by Mystere on 29 November 2009 - 15:11
Triple Crown did not "host" any USA events. Two USA clubs have hosted events at Triple Crown's venue.
Have YOU ever hosted a national event?
by gefauhr on 29 November 2009 - 20:11
No sir, I have not hosted a national schutzhund event and you are correct, I realize it was hosted at TC not by them, however, there was a huge contrast between 2008 and 2009. Jes and Rob (along with many other people) did such a great job, I realize not all clubs can duplicate. Nevertheless, items such as, not having numbers for the teams, total lack of vending (esp food), not having any social events, seating and the catalog.. Not having ever host a national sch event doesnt mean one can not have valid observations on the the event.

There is a VAST difference between constructive criticism (which might include referencing small, albeit perhaps annoying specifics) and simply declaring an entire event "horrible." The fact is that the club provided a beautiful venue with the chosen stadium. National events are USUALLY in a stadium. Triple Crown's facility does not provide that, btw.
Social events have been discarded as often as not at national events. The fact is that they are very often VERY poorly attended. That means lots of work and money by host club members that may essentially be wasted, if deposits and guarantees of a certain number of attendees is required.
There WERE vendors at the national, and there was a busy concession inside the stadium. So, that criticism lacks any validity.
There WERE catalogues. I bought several and there were still dozens left on Sunday. So, that criticism also lacks all validity.
The event was held in a stadium--there was PLENTY of seating. So, that criticism totally lacks validity.
The only valid criticism you specified was that the competitors did not have bibs or arm-band numbers, so you did not know who was on the field just by looking. As you have decided to slam the clubs for that on an international forum, I wonder whether you made any effort to ask host members about the reason at the time. You might have learned that that relatively small (although annoying) detail is just one of the many things that can "go wrong" when hosting a national event. Most of the time, only the hosts know what went wrong, or almost wrong. The rest of us were just glad that the weather held out. :-)
You may have heard: we are in a recession. That, also impacts what host clubs are willing to lay out in advance (often thousands of dollars), knowing that attendance is not going to be what is usually would be for national events.

As usual with you no one can have a valid opinion except you. Be that as it may, not sure where I ever said anything good or bad about the stadium, so please read the post before you go off on your rants. The stadium was in a nice location and was a nice facility, other than the infield being plowed. Im am uncertain of the meaning of your statement " Social events have been discarded as often as not at national events". "Often poorly attended" it is obvious that the 2008 socials were a great success. That goes back to the planning. Yes there were vendors, ONE poorly stocked hotdog stand with very substandard food. That is obvious lack of planning. Yes there were catalog, once again substandard comapared to past events. Yes I inquired about why no bibs, and was told "we didnt think they needed them". Yes I understand the economic situation, however, if a club is not able to produce a national quality event they should not petition to sponsor it. You shouldnt take my opinions so personal, my point is it was the least planned event I had been to in a long time. Not that it didnt get done and the trophies were handed out, there could have been so much more.
