Thank you Blitzen.  We are really new to this and just learning all the in's & out's.  It is so different from our conformation showing. I really appreciate Dog1 posting the differences.  Plus in the Schutzhund world, as we know, we alternate male to females, but in the AKC world, you show the same sex in each age group before you go to the other sex.  And, as I found out--they don't have a 4-6 month old group.  I showed a female that was almost 6 months old, she won her group but was later disqualified because she was not 6 months old on the day of the show.  But myself and two other owners/breeders of GSD's here in the midwest have decided we also wanted to get our style of GSD out there and show them.

I am following the German invasion in the American show ring with much interest. Randy, Waiko looks quite regal in his AKC show photo, he's beautiful. Wishing you much success at New Jersey shows.
JaTee I hope your AKC shows are successful as well. Best of luck.
Blitzen, thanks for sending the link to Virginia shows. Danny Von Wilhendorf bitch that won was not a littermate to our Dux, here's link to his dam;

Noticed that Kent Boyles was handler of the Danny offspring at the Virginia shows. I attended a GSD Specialty show in Florida the week before the Virginia shows to visit with Dux's breeder and watch the judging/dogs. Kent Boyles was there and stopped to ask us about Dux, not entered just hanging out with us. He really likes Danny, likes German imports in general, and hopes to bring more out to show under AKC judges.
Hoping to hear more and more about German going after AKC titles here in the US.

Kent would be my first choice for a handler. I believe he owns some German dogs. I think I was at that specialty, Greater Orlando GSD Club? Was there was a Bad-Boll dog in the open class? I like the BOB winner a lot.

Who bred your dog? My first GSD was a Darby-Dan dog. I bought him from Smith when I lived in PA. Now I'm in the Tampa Bay area. My current female is out of a Kenlyn dam sired by a 1/2 GSL, 1/2 ASL Sch 3 Am Ch.

I purchased my 1st German Shepherd in 2008 for my wife because our American Shepherds both wound up with bad hips and had to retire them.

We belonged to a local training club and received a lot of stares and not so nice comments about her Alfa.

She keep up the training and after 6 months started showing Alfa. As of this date, Alfa has been awarded 12 working titles in AKC/UKC trials.

We let our dogs speak for themselves in  Obedience trials.  The most problems came from  owners/handlers who owned American Shepherds and could not compete with the Imported Shepherds.

My wife and Alfa was invited to the UKC National finals - Alfa did not win, but it was a honor to have our dog invited and my wife had a ball.

We still get a few nasty comments about our dogs, but just laugh it off.

We now have 4 working line Shepherds all imports and look forward to many more blue ribbons.

We wish you the best of luck.

The Americans held the invasion back this weekend. No points.

One thing I can say is the AKC side is really organized. The classes go off right on schedule and the whole show is over in a few minutes. Sign up is easy, just go to the ring and tell them what numbers you want, they check you off in the catalog and you're done. Entries are done and paid for on line in just a few minutes. It's really simple once you've gone through the process once. There's just about a show within driving distance every week.

Hey Blitzen, I did not meet Kent but my husband Joe did at NASS in October. Charlie Starr introduced them. Joe was really impressed with him, mainly because Kent liked our black male Onyx (of course Joe is very partial to that, lol). Talk to you soon. Best, Chris

Hi Chris, I am meeting more and more ASL people who are beginning to take a positive look at the GSL's. IMO that's a good thing.

Any chance you will be at Statesville?

Take care............
