- The dog would have been dead before I went to the hospital.

Agreed 100%, having said that who is really responsible for this? The dog?

I think not, I also think that maybe.....just maybe this is not the first time this dog has bitten the owner.

I think there may have been some previous test bites (so to speak) in the past, and being Negatively Rewarded for unacceptable behavior the same dog decided to establish it's dominance once and for all.

This was not the dogs first bite on it's owner.

You cannot escape the consequences of your actions or lack thereof. What you do or don't do comes back to you, either good or bad.

I would take a dog away for rehabilitation and re introduction to humans...

Owner would be banned from ever owning an animal again aside from gold fish!

Thanks everyone great insight in a NO WIN situation;  unfortunately in Calif. you have to wait 10 days before they can be euthanized and I just found out this was this dogs 2ND bite.  Bad dog.  Did not know it was the 2ND bite.  There is no more chances for this little guy, sad but true.  JHC.  And can you believe he just had his well dog exam. ??

Mystere
I said a dog with a 'doubtful' temperament should not be elevated to sleeping on the bed, whether it's a poodle, GSD or yorkshire terrier. In my experience it inevitably escalates aggressive behaviour.

I don't think it is an issue with dogs of sound temperament, one of mine regularly snuggles up with me.
