I have always wanted to grow the old fashion heirloom variety of roses. The fragrance of the newer, easy to grow varieties is not as pleasing IMO.....: )
Steve....You make it look so easy....: )
Keith...I think you must be right about our climate not being the optimum location for roses. All I ever see growing here are the newer low maintenance type. They do not compare with the traditional / old fashion roses in beauty or fragrance....I will have to do some research on milky-spore....Thanks for the tip...: )
LOve all pics.....

The Tomatoes did not fare well as did not the Carrots, The Roses had four lots of flowers throughout the Summer but knocked about by the rain. i have put 20 dinners in the freezer of the runners so i am pleased.

sable59...hope u are feeling better...
Beetree..that is one gorgeous garden....how do u keep your grass from taking over inside your garden? My attempt of a garden in a new spot got taken over by weeds and some weird vines...I got so frustrated i took down the fence and ran a lawn mower through it...discovered we had a huge rat living in there too...dogs had fun chasing it but i think cat got it during night since it was left by the backdoor on my frigging flip flop....so gross....

That will be my project for next year, a fencing upgrade. I would make it a bit smaller, too, since no one ever helps weed it, but me!
...And rats left in your flip-flops is a sign of affection! Plus, now you know there IS one less rat left in your world. But eewwwe!
