I realize Sid has been producing very well, but any other notables from that kennel?

When I look at the pedigree you linked, the first thing that stands out to me is a deep stack of notable sires: Sid bred over Tom v'L bred over Yoschy over Fado over Uwe v.Kirschental over Greif z Lahntal.

Tom, Fado, and Yoschy....... and I would add Aly.... are
the best to cross with Pixner stock.

The Czech lines will be a big magic  cross for doing
what I think Pixner is doing. With out a doubt  Czech
is very good.  But Tom, Fado,  Yoschy, and Aly Progeny
rein as the best stock for starting out.

Oh and the great.. Karlo vom Peko Haus

Very good stock. Here's Karlo..

daryl, this is a very interesting discussion you have presented on genetics. I have enjoyed reading it. I did wonder if Secretariat passed on his heart. Had no idea it was only through the daughters. That is interesting as it shows some traits may only be passed through the mother line.

I fall in the camp of those you mention, do it and see if it works.

Max, when you say:

The nick that seems to be going well for the last 5 years
is vom Haus Pixner to----------> Vom Waldwinkle stock. But I think alot
of kennels are starting to use vom Haus Pixner dogs with more established bloodlines.
It is a very good mix and can correct some problem as well as maintain quality.
I have been watching this kennel for about 3 years. Here is an example.

What sort of dog does this produce? One that does well in schutzhund, I suppose. But what sort of dog? Prey/fight/defense? high trainability? intelligence? Nerves? Are they the sort that is good for multiple types of jobs or are they more like high-performance competition dogs?

BlckthornGSD...

If you were to keep breeding the same bloodline of
working dogs with high temperament, your
puppies will be insane-O's.....

You try to find a bloodline that will keep the balance,
and maintain quality. Having said that I understand that
line breeding to is necessary to insure you get what it is
you are trying to achieve.

Some sires nick very well when you combined two
top bloodlines......The goal always being to improve or
maintain good foundation stock.

DDR, Czech, West German dogs have been typically bred
in areas that the bloodlines are demographic.

I like Pixner stock in general not just Sid. Sid is a good
example but Pixner produces a bloodline that can keep the
already established foundation stock balanced . Meaning
they take nothing away from a already top bloodline
Fado, Aly, Karlo ect.. New mix of genes to avoid insane- O litters.
