Hi Jim,
I saw that post and thought it was polite and also thought it did not violate any rules.
I was interested to see how it was answered.
o well
-------------------------------
One moderators comment: I personally deleted my earlier comments this date because it made no difference in what I said or how I said it. Explanations whether asked for or not turn into more witch hunting and slamming of moderators, no matter what we say or do.
I will not block anyone or delete any thread or even bother to read the posts from here on out. It is a thankless task and most of you deserve what you get when it is unmoderated. There is little sense in staying here and being constantly abused by some of you. So many of you don't know what the hell has gone on at any given time, but you jump in too. Post all the political, religious, racist and downright dangerous and incorrect information you like.
The forum will continue to decline. Anyone who wants to really learn something now about GSDS should frequent other boards where people are expected to be civil and where poor or downright bad or dangerous posts can be challenged or not posted in the first place. Some of you won't be accepted onto those boards either and you know who you are and why. So fire away and insult mods, and anyone else you choose. Slam everyone for anything....have at it. Some of you are downright pathetic and disingenuous. Too many of you have little clue about what really has been accomplished here in the last few months and you don't deserve this forum or what could be and once was.

I saw your post too, jim. Absolutely nothing wrong about it. There are lots of post that get deleted because a Moderator just seems cranky.
I want to know if they have a program that alerts to key words or phrases, because unless they are on here 24hrs a day reading every single blessed thing, I can't see how some of this stuff gets POOFed so fast. It would also explain the itchy delete button somebody has...
For instance, Sitasmom's Thanksgiving post really was only an informative post on the history of the Thanksgiving holiday in the USA, and absolutely right on target with the topic if one stayed within the conversation. It seems like her history of loving political topics is what got it deleted, not that it was a political post at all! I was busy and wanted to come back to it but .... well POOF. If someone just saw her name and skimmed the topic it would be easy to think something else, IMHO
I do think the moderators have a place here but there are plenty of rough spots yet to be ironed out. Certainly providing explanations for deletions and banning would be a great place to start. And why not sign into post as one of us regular guys if you have an actual opinion on a topic, don't invade our "boxes" to do it, that too.
There have also been many instances where the mods have admitted to deletions in error, so without an explanation how else can we be sure? Except to try and post it again, and then the cranky Mod just gets crankier.
Well, I haven't had a post deleted in a while, so I guess this one will probably do it for me!

Good post Beetree, and I agree. Certainly there are things still to be ironed out, and I think they will, in good time, this is still new for all of us, I think we need to keep that in mind. I have also been moderated, sometimes I think it's fair, others not so much, but I think we just need to have patience. It can't be easy, especially because there are some people who no matter what, will always hate the idea that this board is now moderated (as is every other board I am aware of). Must be a reason.
As far as the Thanksgiving thread, correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that supposed to be about what people were thankful for? It segued because Ibrahim thought it was a Christian holiday, not a secular holiday, then myself and another person said that it is a holiday for all Americans not a religious holiday, that's when SitasMom then came back with this history lesson. I think the mods were right to remove her post, since the thread was not about the history of Thanksgiving or any debate that would surely have followed. Incidentally, I was also moderated on that thread, and advised to stick to the topic.

moderator I am sorry to read your above post. What is really unfortunate and what so many short sighted people don't realize is the trolls will be back, ten fold. You guys thought the political, OT threads and flaming was bad before - you haven't seen anything yet. They will ruin the forum and why - because some people's egos were bruised because they didn't like the fact that they were moderated in the beginnning of a new process? Wow.
Moderator comment: Mobjack I just accidentally deleted your post. The buttons are too close together and on rare occasions I have made that mistake. My apologies for that. We do not have the option of pulling it back up. However, feel free to repost it. As for your question about moderators and how long they have been here, several of them are likely to have been here long before most of you. I know that to be true for several reasons I cannot speak about. None the less, what the moderator posts above is also how I feel at this point. It is pointless. If this forum was moderated at the very beginning, it would never have turned into what it did and probably would not receive the constant crap directed at mods regardless of how they try to do their job. I know enough about the situation to know that the site owner chose this time the very best he knew of who had good intentions and no axes to grind, but I think, in the end, the forum will just end up being deleted completely. it certainly is not worth the trouble it causes and those who really want to post, be it political or other OT stuff will go on posting as they do in other venues, just as it should not be done here. So many of you think it is your right to come here and post some of the BS that gets posted......wrong. It is a priviledge which so many are abusing, not the mods doing the abusing. But, as stated above by the other mod, have at it.

Here is what set me off today!
First, Jim's post was addressed to OLI. I personally found nothing offensive in the post. But are we not allowed to post to Oli?
It's almost like someone opening someone else's mail. Why would they delete a post to Oli? What right does someone have to delete information intended for Oli's eyes?
Yes the moderators have made some improvments, and it may only be one moderator that is causing people to complain.
Why even make a well thought out post only to have it deleted or better yet the whole thread deleted because one or two people got off track.
We are presently under a Posting Paralysis.
Moderator comment: Oli has made it clear that he has no interest in this petty crap and he does not have time to monitor the forum, nor have any interest in doing so. So posts and emails to him, for the most part, are not read or only read many weeks later, IF and WHEN he has time. He too has a life, unlike so many here.

Moderator,
No sweat about the deletion. It happens sometimes. Thank you for the explanation of what happened to it.
I can't remember what all I typed so why bother with that post anymore.
I support the mods comments that Oli has no time for this place. Oli has said that many times. He makes improvements and changes when he can and for the most part, the members thank him for the time he takes. Oli has a life like we all do. If he doesn't want to fool with this place well, do the owners of Google spend all their time messing about there? I doubt it.
I will step up here and say, I do remember the times when mods were here before, and I'll say that unfortunately this time has not been much different then the times before. Every single time there have been mods here, a few have tried hard to do the job well and fairly while a few have done a poor job of it or abused it for their own personal ends. While I'm not saying the current mods are abusing power, I am saying that the mods need a little help and guidance. That falls squarely on Oli to do. It's his forum and his moderators. I emailed Oli some time back when the complaints against the mods started and told him he should look into what was going on. I don't know if he even got my email, but I did what I thought was right and that's the end of it.

"

Did it occur to you that may be because you (collectively) are not doing that hot of a job? As opposed to because the members are all jerks? Maybe you should consider taking a little constructive criticism. Neither Jim's nor the Banishment thread were the slightest bit hostile or rude. I know MINE often are, but that has nothing to do with other people's threads getting zapped just because somebody is on a power trip and doesn't want to hear criticism of the way they want to run things.
If Oli has NO INTEREST in this site, as you say, I think it would be extremely hard for a moderator to stay motivated to do a good job anyway. And maybe explains the hostile remarks, such as members here having no lives.

Mods, just to point a little thing out to you.
Banned and blocked mean the same thing to some of the members. Not allowed to post.
A simple misunderstanding in communication. A lot like fight drive eh?

The only reason I would see for deleting a polite post addressed to Oli is because the Mod's deleting don't want Oli know know the TRUTH!
My post had some valid questions....guess what!?! POOF~~~ That is no way to moderate especailly when the questions asked were VALID!

I am still waiting for somebody to explain me why I was banned from this forum under my nick CAGE. I have never ever used a rude word towards anyone. This is not only about being blocked from the forum but also about not being able to get to my PMs.It is just like somebody blocked me from my e-mail.
