Using your examples of cases where "sensationalism" became reality, Jantie, should we all still be waiting for the Y2K bug to hit or is it not worth worrying about since the world is going to end in 2012 anyway?

altho I do not believe in the accuracy of dates, you may very well be right Keith.

I did not really know much about China, until this weekend.
They are doing very well. One reason is there are a small
group of very knowledgeable judges over there.
I have had a fascination with the Sieger's from about the
70's. But I pretty much stuck to working dogs and training.
That is a great plenty. But I know one... real well known breed
warden in Germany. While only 2000 dogs were being bred there,
there were 250,000 being bred here, in USA. So there is a lot to it, and
the Germans will take their time and go over and over a dog picking apart
any conformation flew.......Or it used to be that way. I have the deepest
respect for anyone who wins a Sieger.....Me I will stick to the working aspect,
it is what I like to do...........But I am still a show fan!!!!

Further to my “sensationalism”, but based on solid evidence (as always):
Furbo has now arrived and been registered in China: CSZ8002354 Furbo degli Achei
He’s the last entry in the following series of exported dogs (to China):
Freia vom Schulland
Heike vom Osterberger-Land
Iceman vom Amur
Minett vom Cap Arkona
Sebastjan s Logoiskogo Trakta
and Wilson von Arlett

No one is suggesting that nice dogs aren't being sold to Asia (and elsewhere); that's nothing new. The assertion that there is some huge conspiracy to promote dogs solely for that purpose, however, begs for scrutiny.

"solid evidence" - words easily written, obviously not so easily PROVEN!

Jantie,
Am I wrong or does it just seem that you think none of the GSDs are any good?
If so, why do you care where they go?
Lenny,
Good to hear!

You make some very good points, and some that I have heard from other quarters. As Videx leaves us to 'ponder' whether the SV judges are corrupt in the oversize issue, it is not a great leap, bearing in mind the 'marketplace' the Sieger has become, to consider there may be some financial dealings going on 'under the counter'. Anyone who would not consider this as a possibility would in my view be incredibly naive.
In accordance with the above, anybody accusing the makers of Pedigree Dogs Exposed (PDE) of sensationalism turns a blind eye to the problems. The documentary was an eye-opener and could only show an overall view on the massive problems of pedigree dogs
Again, very true. How ironic that PDE was citing and showing weak hocks before the UK KC & the SV (and breeders) publicly acknowledged and took any action (or at least brought it out into the open as a problem). Now we have a grudging acceptance that there may be some problems. Both the UK KC & the SV are guilty of the same lack of action in this instance.
The ones challenging the makers of the movie most are the ones who are best placed to admit the problems. Indeed - but they would not accept there was any problem until the SV - finally - told them to. What is actually done about it remains to be seen.

Hi Abby,
are you sure you want to confirm anything I say?
You might get fried here.
Well, anyway, I appreciate it.
To David's last comment: a little Alzheimer yet? Giving you the genuine registration number (CSZ800xxxx) directly out of the Chinese breed book (ON THE VERY DAY FURBO for instance WAS REGISTERED THERE) is giving you as much solid and rapid evidence as you'll ever gonna get. The mentioned dogs all have been registered with our friends in the east now, check it out. (I will refrain from filling out the individual numbers.)
So much for doubting the credibility of my data.
Wanted to add some more impressions of what people nowadays think about the SV-judging.
It was written in Italian, by INSIDERS, and translated into German.
Now the translation might not be the best, but the message is mighty clear!
So it doesn't look like I'm ALL alone, when I say, it's all about connections:

Enjoy!

Jantie: It really is time you stopped insulting the intelligence of some people reading this thread.
A few facts buried amongst a load of speculation, innuendo and downright bullshit, DOES NOT make ALL what you write "factual evidence.
You are very selective indeed. Someone's impressions or opinions are one thing, FACTS and FACTUAL EVIDENCE are completely different. Mixing these in articles does NOT change your opinions into facts. Perhaps I am asking you to understand too much!
You certainly have a "fellow traveller" in "Abby AB-Normal"
