I think you make mountains out of mole hills. I think the correction was timely and correct. I think the dog will be just fine. I think trolls are a dime a dozen.

Please lets stay on topic and leave the trolls alone!

Thanks again everyone, you too, Raymond and Randy! (Except the troll.) I've had a fear biter dog, and that is not what this was.

Maybe Moons, I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but the mom in me is a bit upset about the whole deal.

DD, I think you are right, we need to step up the reinforcing of prior training, make sure it is ongoing. Interesting you mentioned your four year old and that he recently protested the clipping. Mine recently did that too, (a bit of a growl of protest, but no teeth), I again corrected him and insisted I be allowed to touch him. Seems he is feeling his oats a bit, and most likely, and especially, the signs were missed by me.

I actually feel better talking to you guys about this. Thanks for all your thoughts.

The trolls are the topic, on every thread. Yeah a dime is too much. As for the original posters question I think it's no big deal as long as the situation was dealt with promptly and correctly. It's happened to me before and not such a mystery to me. Moons.

Beetree, I think you're on the right track here: monitor but don't overreact.

I have HAD the other kind of GSD - a powerful burly bastard who never gave up hope that someday he'd be able to shove me aside and take over the top spot, right up until he died from DM at age 10.  Life with him was interesting, to say the least!  He was so nuts for a ball that I couldn't throw it for him on anything but grass, because he'd slide in on his belly to tackle the ball and chew his underside up like hamburger without even noticing.  He would also run full-tilt into my chain-link fence at night chasing deer.

I loved that dog to death for his athleticism, drives, power and just plain zest for life, but he was a constant challenge to keep under my thumb, starting at about 8 months of age.  Just be glad you don't have THAT to deal with!
