Wolfenboc - ok so you have a 3 day trial - that means you have to have how many judges? if each judge can judge 36 segments - 12 dogs in a one day trial...you have 50 dogs that is over what 4 judges? in a 3 day trial...come on... you say there is some big time dog trainer - and he has titled over 300 dogs..so what does that mean - you can only trial what 3 dogs in a trial...I might be wrong- might be two---but no more than 3... so what are you saying... he going to have a bunch of handers that will join in on the trial... if you have a 3 day trial - have 50 dogs - each judge doing 36 segments - that should warrarnt a $100 entrance fee. Especially, if you have to fly all of them in, pay for hotels, etc,,,,it just gets bigger and bigger...
.Oh my god - I can't even image all the work that a trial in that magnitude would warrant.....for just a "club trial".... I would say it is worth more than 100.00 for a schH1....

Yogi,
Don't panic, 12 dogs, 36 segments a day x 3 = 36 dogs
If you are a big club, you try to get it all done in three days
You are only restricted by what the dogs are there for.
You can have FH and BH titles as well. Each is limited
to 12 dogs. It would be nice to have another judge on
for all these dogs, thats why I sugested Thomas. But
the old timers in the large clubs will knock it out with one Judge.
Remeber you are still baby in this sport. Thomas is not.

Had you not tried to draw me into shit with your "friend," I would not have needed to tell you, in no uncertain terms, to leave me alone. Period. Nasty is all you understand. Get it? Got it? GOOD!
Now, stop hijacking this thread. Do YOU have anything to contribute to the subject of entry fees at club trials? If not....

Also, I seriously doubt that a $25 spectator fee will keep out animal rights activists... It's kind of ridiculous to think that it would deter them, as they seem to be far more organized and united than people in "organized" dog sports.
You can say that again! Who the hell has TONS of money? PETA and HSUS...
Can't help but say that WE should NOT be concerned even if humaniacs do show up. Animal abuse has no place at a trial (or training, in my humble opinion) so they shouldn't see much they could get going on. Obviously some people are going to freakout over bitework, but the way schutzhund presents it at trials, I have found the public to be very respectful of it.
I guess it would be a whole nother thread about if it is advisable to invite the public to our trials or not... Sigh. The sport can't grow without new people - but new people are often such a pain! : )

Sometimes, you have to take that risk. Cascade Sch Club took the risk last year, not only inviting the public, and potential ARers, to attend an upcoming trial, but inviting the press. The result was an EXCELLENT multi-page article in a Sunday paper magazine. That led not only to multiple visitors, but local cops knowing (finally) for sure what was going on at that field. That led to some "forgiveness" for folks speeding to or from the club. :-) Win-win all around! :-) Plus, not one ARer in the crowd.
Despite all our "paranoia" about the Arers, they have never shown up at any trials, AFAIK. (KOW)

Over here we pay a huge sum of 12 USA dollars to enter a Dog in a trial of BH -AD -Sch1 - 2 or - 3
thats it,
The Judges do it free just get fed and Watered as do the Helpers they do it free
Prizes unless it is a Big competition you get Dog Food and Dog Stuff most of this comes from Sponsers so costs the Club running the Trial nothng or little,
The Club charges a bit more for the Beer and Soft Drinks than at normal club training days thats expected and they lay on a Dinner if you want to join in,
But the Trial does not stop for Dinner it goes on throughout the day, the Judges eat when they have another phase going on other than there own one. Everything works well

Wolfenbog:
I was wonder in a couple of posts back you stated a $2500 for 50 dogs. Then stated in a 3 days trial would be 36 dogs. Are you now saying it would be 36 dogs now? Where did you come up with the 50 dogs and the $2500 in your calculations at $50 an entry. That is why I was calculating the way I was in my post. Seems unrealistic. Glad you changed it.
Just to throw a question out there - is this person "thomas" that has titled 350 dogs a problem in California? What does it matter how many dogs he has titled in this situation. Are you saying that his titles weren't "Earned" or are you saying he is a great handler to have titled so many dogs...? You have thrown this out there so please explain what does it matter.....
Steve1 it would be nice to live in a area that the government helps out with the club. But then again - not sure I would want that, government around here seems to be corrupt in some ways - not to mention go belly up with running the city...Couldn't image what they would do to a dog club....

Not sure what you mean by Governments helps out, They have nothing to do with the ScHh clubs of Belgium, that is run by the V.V.D.H
Perhaps you mean the Club Fields, Yes, The Local Council's provide the Training Fields But they do not subscide the Clubs other than that
The Clubs make there own revenue, By the trials they hold but then no more than 3 a year most It is the members who buy the drink and food from the Clubs where the money comes from The Club possibly pays 25Cents fora Pincher (beer) and we pay one euro at trials that goes up to 1.50 euro The soft drinks are the same price
Plus all tracking fields belong to the Farming community they let the Clubs use there fields to Track on they again are nothing to do with the local Councils
Periodically the member clubs hold the big trials our club held the Belgian Championship last year you can make a fair bit of money that day with Sponsers etc and the Food and Drink, When i go to the training club i guess i spend each time about 15 euros about 20 dollars USA, Not that i drink a lot of beer but when it is hot i drink Water and a couple of Pinchers.
After training Izzy YOU definatly need a Pincher (Beer) Plus you buy one for the Helper and Mates like Izzys Breeder etc
