Awww, I love Falk too. He fights the helper all the way BUT in the bark n hold he doesn't put his feet on the helper!

This is how it was explained to me: Our dogs are judged as arresters not punishers. The idea is the dog holds/controls the helper with a grip that is full, hard and calm. It is not their job to rip & tear apart (punish) the helper.

On another note, according to SV Judge Heiko Grube this year's WDA Nationals protection judge, "the dog is allowed to bite the sleeve only, anything other than the sleeve is disqualification". Example, Fritz Gates' dog Rasko, was disqualified after the out from the re-attack from the escape bite. Rasko barked, bit the helper's chest, went back to barking and was dismissed. So, based on the information provided by an official representative of the SV, the critter in the video should have been dismissed after his blind search even before his short escape bite ('cuz he's too fat and out of shape).

I am confused. B&H I know the dog is NOT suppose to ever bite anything else right? The dog can be pushy touching( points off) but never ever touch the helper with his mouth!
But I was discussing the bite. The dog on the sleave can use his legs to show the fight drive. I know Judges who will say.. more is better hopefully the dog will out. I had a Judge yell at the helper becasue he told him he could not gain control while the dog was on a bite and he needs to learn that! (he could not lock up and he said the dog will not out unless the helper is locked because in the dogs head there is still fight going on)
I still need to look at the rule book!

Actually this was addressed and clarified as follows.
http://www.germanshepherddog.com/members/index.htm
From the 2008 WUSV Judges meeting:
"Basic rules for disqualification were covered;
Lack of temperament
Lack of control
Biting the helper other than the sleeve
No out
In describing the part regarding biting the helper, a dog that nips is not to have considered biting the helper. This is referring to the dog that fully engages and grips the helper on other parts outside the sleeve. No changes from out current evaluation on how the grip is evaluated under our current program."
--------------------------------------------------------
SO THE JUDGE WAS CORRECT IN NOT DISQUALIFING THIS DOG BECAUSE THE DOG DID NOT FULLY ENGAGE AND GRIP OUTSIDE THE SLEEVE, HE NIPPED OR BUMPED, AND WAS MOST LIKELY HEAVILY PENALIZED FOR MOLESTING THE HELPER.

You couldn't pay me to set foot in California. Honestly, I can't understand all the fascination for me.
