I have tried some of the expensive ones and did not like them. Tried the cheap ones and most did not last a year.
My model Dyson you can easily clean and I have never had problems with the cones clogging. We wash and clean the filters often and the only thing I can really say bad about it is the attachment holders suck and we have to keep them in a drawer but other than that for the money the Dyson is well worth it.

This house has a lot of warts, but the floors were designed to be DOG FRIENDLY. The only place I have carpet is the basement apartment, and I've already torn that out of the main room and replaced it with give-em-hell vinyl flooring that looks like hardwood. My business partner has raised 9 pups down there, and so far, though the room doesn't smell very sweel, the floor is holding up just fine.
Before I left Sundridge, I bought the Bissell Pet Hair eraser. It gets mixed review from me. The small power head meant for cleaning stairs stopped working after only 3 uses. I had to disassemble it, clean it and put it back together. And believe me, doing that was NOT easy!
However, although it can develop a problem similar to the Dyson's, it's easier to fix. It does get hair in the upper compartment, but there is a centre piece that can be removed fairly easily, without undoing any screws. Just take that out, clean it, reach up inside and pull out any hair still stuck up there, reinsert the centre piece, give it a twist clockwise, reinsert the cannister, and you're back in business. Reinserting the centre piece is a bit fiddly, as you have to get it lined up properly with the tabs, but after the first time or two, you know what you're doing, and it's a lot easier.
The Bissell has two filters, one washable, and one paper. I haven't had a problem with either of them clogging up, and have only had to replace the paper filter once so far. And I had a fair bit of carpet in Sundridge (bedroom, den, living room.)
Here, I have two medium sized area rugs, both of them small enough that I can roll them up myself and take them out to be cleaned every now and then. Okay, down to one now, as Ranger peed on the cheap indoor-outdoor carpet...

Mostly I just sweep up the hair, as the floors upstairs are all hardwood and ceramic tile. Yes, the dog's nails do scratch the hardwood, but that's life! It's a HELL of a lot better than carpet!
In my previous house, the rug in the den was partly under my entertainment unit, so it was very difficult to clean under there. Every so often I would roll the carpet back, and clean the floor underneath. The amoutn of dirt that sifted through the carpet was UNBELIEVABLE, and it was wrecking the finish on the hardwood, because when you walked over top of it, the carpet moved just a little bit, and it acted like sandpaper!
One day shortly before moving, I had a friend over, and she helped me move the entertainment unit, and clean in behind, The dirt back there was just disgusting. It was bad enough to make me take the rug on a one way trip to the dump. It was a good quality Dupont nylon, and I'd had it for over 25 years, so it didin't owe me anything. Although the surface still looked pretty good, you could see a lot of stains on the jute backing, from raising two puppies, plus adults throwing up on it, etc.
You people who have broadloom don't get to see the dirt trapped in your rug until it's time to remove it. And believe me, when you see what's underneath, you probably won't want to replace it!

new one and old one..both still work.....
The amount of dust in air from using other vaccums is not good...Mine is fast and doesnt take a minute or two to run to water faucet..drop three drops of Eucalyptus or potpourri oil in put on top and click and turn on..MIne stays all together all the time just with no water...Water is great for traping all the impurities and emptying..it is harder to drag around according to others. but I like the clean room ,, clean pillows and anything you use it for...it is 9 yrs old and never given me trouble..
I wouldn;t live without my Rainbow.. the wonderful smell it emits into my home very pleasant.
I believe on of the ones you have here has a water filtering system but not sure...some new ones do filter well but I still like the rainbow.. It picks up if I need to or I pull it..I do not have carpet but in Master Bedroom where no dogs go...WHITE CARPET ...!!!!

I vaccumed the gas out of my lawnmower tank two nights ago when it wouldn't stay running....Some dumb man I know, brought me a can he wittled the top so I could get it off and it went into the gas can..He filled it with gas and brought it to me...I dumped the gas and ran it for all day on Tues and then night before last it wouldnt run...because it sat a while the plastic settled into the crack where the gas goes into my filter then carburetor..so I had to think of a way quick at 2 am in the morning to get my lawnmower tank clean...could not get bolts off and too many of them and not where I could remove this huge gas tank...so used the huge wet vac
long way from motor to the gas so I took a chance...
I am still here and it didnt blow up...got a real clean gas tank and a WET vac with a removable blower that stinks like gas...I will wash it all up and it will be ok...
Call me Daredevll Yellowrose.of Texas..
I just took a course in safety with fire..!!!! No sparks no gas no fire...........gas spark = fire.!!
