Yea there were a few nuts!! My boss tried to keep me away from them as I tend to say what I think. If i actually am able to bite my tongue...then my face shows clearly what I am thinking.
I don't know why this happened if it was the breeding or what but there was an Airedale pup.(another breed that is being ruined by AKC) and there was only 1 pup and it had no anus,a cleft pallet,no nostrils, and the sexual organ....was any ones guess. It came out not breathing.I took that as a good sign but the guy I worked with was trying to resuscitate it!!! I asked why? What kinda life would it have? If it eats where is it going to go? Plus as messed up as it's mouth was who knows if it would have been able to nurse/eat? Thankfully the owners said just let it go!!

Ok confession time then... my own two pure bred dogs bred once, big accident on my husband's part. (Let's just say he's NOT the best babysitter...I came home from work last night with the whole house smelling like nail polish. My 3 year old SON had painted all his fingernails and toenails, the door, and the beige carpet) You get the point.......
Anyway, Two pups. I kept it my dirty little secret and placed them both in pet homes with a neuter agreement (which was done) and they had to be professionally trained (in training now)
I was horrified that 1) My dogs were not OFA'd or Titled and 2) My male was from workingline and my female was from showlines... At the time I didn't realize that this could be done successfully by knowledgeable breeders, which I am NOT... Well...
*sarcasm* Had I knowm I could GET RICH, maybe I could have charged a fortune...
It's a shame but people really think that Dog Breeding is an excellent source of income. I hear it nearly every day in my grooming salon. We ask each client if their dog is spayed/neutered and the ones who say "no" usually go on and on about how they are going to breed their valuable dogs and make money :-(
Most are horrible examples of their breed, othes are "cute" mixes....
Today was an oversized (80+ lbs!) pit bull, no papers, 8 months old that looked like it was mixed with some kind of hound! He was out of control and the 18 year old girl (his owner) told me he didn't NEED a rabies shot because he is a house dog.
I think I may have changed my mind about being upset about the mandatory spay/neuter for this city.
It needs it more than I thought.
At least the responsible breeders who belong to clubs and actually show and/or work their dogs will be exempt.
Oh well, sorry for the rant!!!

Stacy....where are you that it is mandatory for neutering? I have to say that I think it is just people in general that NEED the education of owning an animal. I am not going to castrate my males(well I need to for my mutt cause he is a one nut wonder) but I am educated and responsible. There have been articles in vet magazines about it not being a good idea to neuter.Plus it isn't fair for the people that are educated and don't let their dogs get knocked up or go roaming the town. I was just sent an email by a friend of mine that is also a trainer in this area telling me that she is training a nice female GSD 8 mo and the people want to breed her cause she is so nice.(she was thinking of telling them about my males) My friend told me that she is a nice female...about 90lb already!!!! (as big as my 2yr male) and probably from a BYB BUT she is a nice dog.AAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I had to nicely email her back saying that they should get educated and NOT breed her since no real knowledge of lines, needs to be OFAd anyway...but she is NOT of the standard and there for will not contribute to the betterment of the breed and I wouldn't breed my males to their female. Again I say EDUCATION!!!! There really needs to be some kind of program to educate people. Not only for the GSD but for all dogs and dog owners out there. FFS!! I guess I can't be too shocked the same happens with people that breed that shouldn't be reproducing!!!

I am currently in Las Vegas, but moving back to Texas in about a month. I completely agree about the neutering! But poeple in general as you said are just not educated and you'll find way too many who don't WANT to be educated :-/
I posted a bitch awhile back about a training issue a grooming client had and when I addressed it, the owner had a fit...
ANyway, When I get my male's OFA results and start getting titles I will decide then if I will breed him...however if the results of the OFA don't come back good, he won't be bred. He also won't be neutered. After learning a lesson, he just won't be around females...period!
Someone on here had posted an awesome pro/con link to neutering & spaying, I'll have to see if I can find it.
I feel your frustration about breeding dogs that are sooooo niiiiice!!! Your sentiments on it are the same as mine:
AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! LOL

Stacy-you aren't that far from me.I am in Central AZ.The people around here are for sure the ones that DON'T want to be educated. They just don't get it and that is what i don't get.lol
A friend of mine posted something once on FB from the AVMA about pro/con of neutering.Wonder if it was the same one.Just thought of it....wondering if like in people....if a male could be snipped but keep the testicles? Just not produce the sperm? Anyone know about that? Been a while since I was working for a vet.

Mandatory spay/neuter?? Hey I have a few human parents (and I use the term loosely) here that I would like to sign up for that.
