Very sorry to hear it.   That is heartbreaking.  However, it is good to hear Portia is doing well and Shelley and everyone is settling in.

Michelle,
That living room sure looks familiar...is that you in the youtube videos training the little GSD pup?  Awesome video regardless of who it is.  I can't access it here at work or I'd check it out and know for sure.

Ok YR!!! HOW did you know my favorite flower!!!??? I LOVE my roses, and I was devastated when I moved from Tx and had to leave all of my beloved rose bushes... BUT those right there are my absolute favorite. I guess I am just not nurturing enough to keep them alive very long LOL
Thanks YR

Deb,

Believe me, I am not in any video training puppies.

I used to rent two bedrooms, a bath, a laundry and a great room with a kitchenette.  Now, it is dismantled and returned to the appearance of a large single family residence because that will bring a lot more when it goes on the market in a couple of weeks.

A lot of love went into how it was all put together.  But, now that time is past and it is time to move on to the next stage, maybe Northern Arizona.  I have been giving things away, to my daugter and friends and selling things on CraigsList.  That takes a lot of time and effort photographing and writing the ad and correspondence.  I still have a couple of rooms to paint. Ugh!

When Shelley got to Modesto, I asked her what she had in her kitchen and did she like red and you know the rest.  I was so much happier to know that all the pretty red things have a new home with Shelley, who just loves them (if you can "love" a red toaster or a blender or a microwave etc).  The deep red opulent velvet drapes were just the finishing touch.

It will be exciting as time goes on to see them in their new home.

My home needs to be set it up so that it looks inviting and yet shows them that there is plenty of room for their stuff.  That it is not idelibly marked by my personality and that they can put their mark on it.  It is a good trick considering my taste does not look like Architectural Digest.

Of COURSE I can love kitchen appliances!
Don't forget to take pix of your house after you stage it for sale. I'm pretty sure we will all think the before shots are better, but it will be interesting to see what it looks like as a blank page for the next person to put their personality into. Kinda "reverse creativity?"  I like the gypsy look.

Those curtains are going up today. Now that the whelping area in the living room will be dismantled (for now...) I will start working on cleaning, fixing up, and decorating. It will help take my mind off the puppy that isn't here.

Portia seems fine. She isn't looking for her pup as much, eating fine, no fever. The sooner she gets back to doing what she loves, even if she just watches from the sidelines till her milk dries up, the better for both of us I think.
Hope it stops raining soon so we can get up and start on the roof.

Meanwhile, I can continue to see about getting work. Whether its from training dogs or a "real" job back in the corporate jungle, (ha ha ha) finding work is #1 on my Things To Do list EVERY day now that I am "home."

Money ain't everything, but it IS The Universal Solvent when it comes to some things.

Shelley -- I'm really sorry about the puppy....very sad.

Good luck with your job search.   You definitely have marketable experience/skill in Dog Training, and additional Business/Corporate experience.

I think the Red appliances are great....cheerful.   You can have some fun fixing up the apartment.

Michele, I really liked the "gypsy room."   For "staging" your home for sale, HGTV has a lot of great ideas.

My sister is an interior designer. Maybe she'll come up from LA and help me fix this place up, eh? I'm thinking "Transitional / Contemporary with Ethnicly Diverse Accent Features".  A budget of $15-20K should just about do both rooms if we take advantage of thrift shops, garage sales, overstocks, factory seconds and flea markets. She can use the Before and After photos for her portfolio, to demonstrate her creativity and resourcefulness. Right?

I found the video I was thinking about and I wasn't even close Michelle.  Yours is much nicer.  I like the red.  I hear ya on taking your "stamp" off the house and letting someone look at a blank slate.  Good luck with the sale!
