Gonna crack open the Rum and settle in for the night.
You have a really great time BabyEagle.
Fruitcake?
I knew I forgot something.
I may be strange but I like fruitcake.

It is cold here - at least for us. The high temperature this morning was 40F and it is now 30F with high wind and light snow. I do not anticipate much more than a "dusting". The dogs are a bit testy with each other as they do not stay outside long enough to enjoy some physical activity.
I am alone for most weekend days so I spent my time inside today reading and repairing and inspecting sidearms. I was finally ready to stir about 13:00 so I visited the gun shop to purchase certain ammunition (even 7,62 x 39,0 is scarce now I discovered). The parking lot at the pistol range was full beyond belief, so I decided to not do any recreational shooting since I don't like people near me unless I can trust their mindset about range safety. I think everyone felt the cold today. It did not break 50F with some sunshine, so the old Harley stayed in the shop.
I went to the farm supply store and a private drugstore. I then visited the pharmacy where my wife works and made my last stop at the Waffle House for a cup of coffee. The nearby Wal-Mart parking lot appeared to be 60% full. I had no need to cut any grass or tree limbs so the mower and the chainsaw remained idle. I had no need to move earth or gravel, so the tractor remained in the barn. I had a few outside tasks to do, but will wait until it is a few degrees warmer. Needless to say I did not pass my time this afternoon in a manner such that I would like -such as resting on the porch in the afternoon warmth enjoying a smoke and a glass of bourbon.
I dislike cold weather very much because I am an avid outdoorsman. I become cold when the temperature drops below 80F and curse frequently at the lack of warmth. I often remind myself that the winter will not last forever and often catch myself counting the days until 1, March. I lived in cooler areas such as Germany, The northeastern United States, etc.. and have spent many cold and miserable days out in the field working. But I have also lived on the Mississippi coast and really liked it. There are just no jobs there.
All things considered - life is not bad. Summer will someday return. It will just not be here soon enough.
Best Regards,

Is there also something like a few old photos that you can put in an album ad add a few sentences about them?
Something funny and clever, romantic yet heartwarming?

So, I am making slow successive passes and shifting blade angle to level the drive when an automobile turns from the main road and starts towards me. They slowly come closer and I realize it is the God Squad. I pull to the edge of the driveway and stop the tractor. The car is full of older people - very friendly, well-mannered, and very well-dressed. They ask if they may speak with the owner of the property if that will not be a problem. "You sure can" I say. I introduce myself by name as the owner and have to really smile when I hear what they say next.
"Oh, we're sorry about that - we thought you were perhaps the hired man." Gotta love it. I told them there was no need to apologize and I asked how they were doing. We had a nice short chat. They did hand me some reading materials, but they did not invite me to a church and did not try to gang-save me. They were very nice about the entire ordeal - I am not accustomed to that I guess.
So I have now passed as the "hired man". I think I am "fitting in" very well in this neighbourhood!

Best Regards,
Bob-O
