Those people have every right to take the actions they are contemplating! They should be smart and take some of the burden upon themself to ease the financial crisis! but lets look at the facts. prices and taxes continue to go up! Wage and perks continue to go down! Pensions are being slashed and govt. servants at top continue to get MORE!  Propert values in my area continue to falll but taxes based upon value continue to go up. Their excuse ( stop spending money at the local level! Not our fault! Wanna loose fire fighters and release prisoners!  Cut elderly medical benifits! But we still see those link cards at the check out register! My black tennant tells me her boyfriend  does not have to be on the lease to live there and there is not a damn thing I can do about it!  Section 8 funds and black arrogance! If you want to blame someone about GM failure blame those who ran the company. Management and stockholders!

Any other lender would do the same thing - they don't loan/invest money if the lender does not have confidence in the management.

Well, that wasn't the case with Freddie and Frannie was it.

February 27, 1981:
* After posting a deficit of $1.7 Billion for 1980, the largest annual loss ever for an American company, Chrysler Corp. is granted an additional $400 Million in federal loan guarantees.

I believe this was during Reagan's watch.......

Chrysler, Harley, GM sould have all failed, out of the ashes would have come many smaller companies that could compete with the forign companies.......instead they have limped along for decades.

keepthefaith - you are such a jerk!

Sitasmom -- SHE is more than a Jerk -- you were being gracious with that description.

SM, don't cite partial facts to support your position. When was Chrysler given a loan of  $1.5 billion? (edited to change from $1.2 billion). Who loaned Chrysler the money?

When were the terms of the loan determined? Who was responsible for negotiating the loan? Was it even a loan or was it a loan guaranteed by the federal government? Do you know the difference?

Good try as far as trying to cover up your ignorance regarding the genesis of how it all came up - you cite an additional $400 million that was given under Reagan to tide Chrysler through and conveniently ignore the fact that most of the financing came during the Carter administration and that the structure of the entire deal was negotiated by Carter's Treasury Secretary.

Just stick with "copy and paste". It really is the safest course of action for you. Otherwise research something before you post.
