Steph and Crys,
I used to buy stuffed toys at garage sales for our old girl. She figured out if she destroyed it, it disappeared. I think Echo is figuring it out too because this last couple of toys remain intact, gnawed, but intact. I used to love to buy toys that had recorded sounds inside so that when Airin bit down it would "speak" She could only be gentle for so long on those and would chomp down and destroy the noise maker. She finally figured out how to be gentle and enjoy the racket but that took years. I often buy toys that you shouldn't give a dog, but I'm right there to see how they react and take it away before they can eat something they shouldn't. Echo hasn't reached that point yet. The more I know Echo the more I appreciate what a smart, gentle soul we had in Airin. We miss her every day, but Echo is doing her best to take her place. I don't dare give her anything that she could hurt herself with. I find that Echo really enjoys tearing up an oatmeal box. Sometimes it's good to be able to just tear something up with no repercussion. She is figuring out which is which. Keep up the good work with the rescues Steph, and Crys just keep doing what you are doing. Oakley is blossoming under your hand.
