I'm learnin', learnin', learnin' from this thread!

Yes. Askia was small-ish and lucky to get the V I am told, but her temperament and working ability lives on and on. Check out the dogs from linebreeding on that bitch. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/reverse_linebreeding.html?hund=3030
Some of the best dogs have Askia 2-4x in the first 5 generations, including (2xBSP -Place 2, 2x WUSV) Quasy Bosen Nachbarschaft, quite a few very good Cap Arkona dogs and dozens of SchH3,KK1 dogs over the years. How many females can you say that about?
Its almost like you can't have enough Askia in a pedigree. She must have been one HELL of a bitch!

I've always been more interested in the bitches in the pedigree. Catja v Kirchenholz is one I'd like to have a dog with a line-breeding on, but she was only bred 3 times, so the odds are remote.
Afra v Stoppenberger is another producer bitch that one sees line-breedings on.
I have only seen one dog/bitch among God only knows how many Troll/Timmy progeny I have seen that was clearly undersized.

There are a lot of dogs line-bred on Umsa Bungalow, too, but too much Umsa can open a Pandora's Box of structural and dentition issues.

Not sure I'd linebreed on an ugly a3 dog, although it was done with Catja. She was bred to Mink to produce BSP Arko Parkstrasse, almost a carbon copy of ugly Lewis Malatesta. Generations later they still can't get the ugly out of the progeny's progeny's progeny. Drive and working ability is wonderful, but how much am I willing to give up in the process of getting it?

I had an Arko Parkstraße daughter and I would take a million more just like her. She was a dog with so much temperament and fantastic nerves and drive. It probably helped that she was out of a 'V' KKL1 bitch.

Shelley,
I have a dog with Catja behind him and he is anything but ugly. :-) beautiful structure, rock-solid temperament and over the top drives. He looks more like his maternal gf (Marc) than any Mink. :-) I'll see if I can email you a photo.

Not to hijack Timmy's thread, but Shelley (or anyone else), what do you think Quasy brings to the table? My bitch is a Quasy granddaughter.
