Why did i move from Somerset, and it was beautiful there

Well Pigeon racing has been a sport of mine all my life, we have been very lucky to go to the top everywhere we moved to and raced pigeons, and you have to have a bit of luck

So in Somerset we moved from Shropshire and we won there in the all England National and became Champion  we needed a new challenge

So the Belgian fanciers thinking they were the best in the pigeon world,

We decided to have a crack at those, the Dutch fanciers, and the French and German fanciers, but to do this we had to move, I wanted to move to Holland ,but the house prices were too high, so we settled on Belgium but not the most favourable part or line for the pigeons we chose the opposite side it was cheaper housing, plus i wanted to really test us

So we bought the house built the pigeon loft 18m long, will put a photo in but i hope the guys will know i am repyling to you

The year we moved there we bred a few latebred young birds in August -Sept

Racing for that year 2004 had ended by the time these babies were bred

The next year we raced in the Club and Federal, and became Champions of that year, not bad with pigeons only about 6 to 8 months old

Then we forgot the Club and Federal to concentrate on the long distance International races against 11 countries in Europe racing to Barcelona 700 miles. the reason we moved for

Two years now at Barcelona creeping up to the front with the first pigeon at 55th place, ten from 14 entered in the prizes, against 23,600 birds and over five and a half thousand pigeon lofts in Europe racing from Barcelona is not too bad

plus many top prizes in other long distance races

A bit too old really to make the move but i love a challenge and i do not know why but i always have had to go for the best , to win small races means nothing i do not do it to prove anything to anyone, it is the way i am i guess, When i competed in Karate in my young days, i got beat a few times but i always had to beat the fellow twice afterwards to prove to me i was better. a bad fault of mine i know but thats me, and so it is the same with the pigeons

If i do not do what i want to in the sport in  this life i will come back fior a second try

That whole building is for pigeons?   High time I grew a pair of wings!  How many birds do you have?  It's not much like Jack Duckworth's loft!! LOL

That loft is unbelievable!!!!  Missbeeb, that's a kind of personal question,"how many birds do you have"? You know fine well Steve only has eyes for you, lol. I was amazed to find out how much some of the pigeon fanciers paid for good birds, it is not a cheap hobby at the top level, like Steve's at. liz

LOL Liz, I'm amazed... I never thought a pigeon loft would look like that!

It must go hand in hand with Shepherds, Percy Elliott was (is?) a big pigeon fancier.

I started a thread this morning (no replies) headed, BLACK MALINOIS... it vanished... ?

There's someone selling a black Malinois on the board.  As I understand it, Malinois are all a shade of fawn, I wanted to know if the standard had changed.

Didn't know Percy was a pigeon fancier, did your thread get deleted? Never seen a black one before. liz
