Outstanding focus, however I do not understand why a person would want thier dog wrapped around thier body looking straight up at them. Can someone explain this to me?

No answers along the line some Schutzhund judge thought it was cool and so eveyone trained thier dogs that way, I want to know what makes this practice useful.

Thank you

K

misbeeb: I share your sympathies, and your accolades to the dog and team. I would want that kind of focus some of the time but not all the time, because then, where is the dog's mind in all of this, if he's obsessed with my face? NOT knocking the sport, just my POV.

With my dog he Focuses like that when i ask it of him. He doesn't do it when we are just walking down the street. It's a taught behavior for when i compete. As far as if i heel with him like that and someone jumps me, he will react quickly. He's had a few helper bite. Unfotunately it cost me a trial or two and some helpers with a couple of teeth marks lol. He's gone for the chest, stomach, unprotected arm, hand. Loves the fight.
