make sure your pup has enough vacinations before you start visiting these places as puppies pick up viruses in these type of places.also people can carry viruses on there shoes and person. good luck with new pup.

LOL....
You guy's...
I do like Clint Eastwood, he always has that sense of humor, even when he's being the bad ass he can come up with the wise crack. I don't think I'm that old looking..LOL
One of my favorite character's was William Munny in Unforgiven, especially the ending.
missbeeb,
You got me pegged !!!! That's me...lol except for the logger boot's I prefer and sadly no pancho, just some camo coverall's.
Oh, and no snow, just a little salt and pepper. And the shade's are prescription these day's.
Let's all have a camp out and we'll try those bean's...... That'll be interesting...LOL
I'm not easy, but I can be had.....:)
Moon's.

Trio:
I have the same problem. I've been outside schools with a puppy and kids won't even look at the puppy, or if a child acts interested the parent will whisk the kid away like a 4 month-old is going to attack them or something. The most bizarre thing that happened when trying to socialize my dog was standing a decent distance from the library door, having a woman walk out, having my dog utter one bark and have her react by practically falling back into the library, then standing outside and go on a tirade about how she could have been attacked and likening my year-old to a pack of pitbulls who recently had mauled a kid.
I've taken dogs to Petco and Petsmart (after they've gotten their second shots and I take a blanket and put them in a shopping cart cause you never know what's on the floor). I've also stood outside stores, schools, the library, etc. but no one really seems all that interested. Went to a high school Homecoming parade with my friendliest girl and walked around and no one came up to us. We just got a dog park, but I don't believe in them and there have already been several incidents of fights, people not watching their dogs, etc.
A lot also depends on the puppy. The two imports I've gotten really haven't liked people from day one. You couldn't pay them to have someone stop and pet them. They like to look at people from a distance, but that's it. Other puppies I've had are just dying to have someone interact with them, but no one wants to.
It's also really hard on the rare occasion someone is interested, to have them interact properly with my dogs now that they're older and have hit their more protective, aloof stage. They don't particularly care for someone to just walk up and throw out their hand and try to pet them, but it's practically impossible to employ a Cesar Millan style of no touch, no talk, no staring at the dog to begin with, then let the dog get comfortable and interested with the party and see how it goes. As Two Moon's said, dogs can get different vibes from people. My dog might really like one person and not want anything to do with someone else. I wouldn't try to force an interaction.

tigermouse,
LMAO... Those are great...:)
Momofbeckett,
I'm with you, dog parks are not for me, same goes for petsmart's and so on.
Friend's and relative's have been my source for younger children, and the park we go to is a small public park, very low key, and you really never know who you will meet. Never force anything.
Moon's.

Tracie, never refer to me as a woman... I'm just a girl.
We're all going on the bean stew expedition... you... me, Liz, (for anyone in need of a Scottish kiss) Brady Bee, (she's got the Drambuie) Beepy (to keep us all in line) and I think we need to take Yellow Rose too.
In my mind (I know, I know) YR is Dolly Parton-ish... she sings a lot, plays the geeee taaa, talks a lot of sense, oh yeah, she also has Bag Balm, which we may need... after the bean stew on the tin plates!

by funky munky on 10 November 2008 - 21:11
Tracie, so good!! I have got my passport ready, tracie, NO BIKINI'S!!!!!!!! LIZ
