GSDalways

Hi Tracie,

I also reside in the UK.

Burns is a very good product and my dogs have been fed on it previously, however like yourself a lot of people complain that their dogs can't keep the weight on with Burns.

I currently feed my dogs Arden Grange and have been for some considerable time now. They have a very good product range and most dogs find the food very palatable. They have a wonderful nutritionist by the name of Nessa who is absolutely lovely and very knowledgable. When I have consulted with her in the past she has offered to send out samples.

If you need to put on a bit of weight on your boy, then possibly Premium: Rich in fresh chicken would be a good option.

Arden Grange also have a moist food now. It is quite pricey but is very good quality (human grade, no derivatives, hypoallergenic etc) if you still wanted to mix in a moist food with the dry.

Natures:Menu also have a new canned food. Again quite pricey at 1.09 per 395 grams, but again a good quality food.

All my dogs love both the canned and dry foods.

My oldest boy (10 years) is on the A/G Lamb and Rice, my youngest  boy (6 months) is on the Large Breed Puppy/Junior. My female  (18 months) gets finicky when she has her seasons so I have to sometimes interchange hers and she will eat either of the above or the Premium or the above canned foods.

I would thoroughly recommend A/G. I think with all the recalls that go on nowadays you do have to have a bit of faith in the product you feed your dog and I feel quite happy with A/G.

Anyway, good luck with your search for a new food.

Kindest regards

Tigermouse,i see you are looking into Timberwolf, i am not sure if that is easy to get here. GSDalways suggests ArdenGrange range of foods, this would be much easier to get,and i think they do grain free.I know a lot of people who use this food and are totally satisfied with it and just would not use anything else. liz

Orijen have mini bags that you can buy if you wanted to try it out first. I bought a few mini bags before and have used them as treats. I have heard of a lot of good reviews on Orijen. It appears to be a very good food. Too high in protein for mine as they are not working dogs.

Hi Tracie,

i had problems maintaining weight on my dogs when they were fed Burns, I cant feed raw as 1 dog is allergic to most meat proteins I feed Skinners Field & Trial Duck and rice, this is a working dog food so no VAT
