I agree 100% with the comments made by xfactor. The Judges where terrible the bitch judge I would vote as the WORST I have ever come across in more than 20 years of exhibiting dogs (not only GSDs).This is not just sour grapes as Korzwin dogs did very well our own Randy won Sp Yearling dog and Jilli was 2nd in Post Grad bitch beaten by a very nice bitch who was well worthy of winning the class.  We had a progeny group entered on the Saturday  and a kennel group on the Sunday but as it took so long to complete judging and everyone left as soon as judging had finished there was absolutely no point in putting them in the ring as there was no one there to see them. The rings where far far to large and there was no atmosphere. I must say that at no time where the stewards rude to me nor did I witness them being rude to anyone else.

On a more positive note there was plenty of space to walk the dogs. Although there was only four portaloos on the field there where plenty of clean toilets and great showers in the pavilion but it was rather a long walk away. The catalogue was well laid out and the prize cards where different but very nice. All campers where given a welcome bag and all junior handlers where given a t-shirt. That being said it takes more than this to make a good show.

What a show !! Our premier 2 Day show that we all look forward to each year was a huge, expensive 'let down', a 920 mile round trip at a cost of some £400.00 to arrive at a venue with ridiculously large rings, no atmosphere because people were so spread out, poor catering, (we took our own on Sunday), toilet facilities which were adequate if you fancied a hike, a catalogue that didn't give accurate details of the exhibits, none of the numbers in the back agreed with the numbers in the classes, one exhibit was listed as 'Unkown', why? They had the entry and the cheque, then weren't sure whether to disqualify the dog! Poor and unacceptable admin and at a cost of £5.00 ! I know printers make errors but this was just too much. Another dog listed in joint names when the 'partnership ' had not existed for some years, where did they get that from ?? I think we all could have lived with that , but when the judging started and the stewards started on about the double handling the show went downhill fast. The rudeness and arrogance of some people is unbelievable, I would never speak to anyone in the manner that these people were speaking to us, one on a mike shouting across the rings, and one trying to physically stop another is tantamount to assault, not acceptable ! I understand they have a job to do  but there are ways and means of doing it and shouting at a champ show judge that he should know better is not one of them. Leicester GSD had the same job  to do , but we had a good day there, nice atmosphere, no tearing round the rings, just a bit of calling , what's the problem with that ? What about the dog judge being in the bitch ring whilst the classes were being judged ? When I asked about that I was told he wasn't doing anything so it didn't matter............... Who is applying the rules now ????  The bitch judge was  erractic in my opinion, sometimes checking teeth, sometimes running the class before the individuals were finished and with no running order ! However I don't mean to take anything away from the winners, all beautiful animals and many congrats to Kora for her title . We should have had a judge with more experience and competence for our major show of the year, someone that people  knew  and  respected. Then we come to the age old request that this show should be held in an area accessible to all, Weston Park always is a favourite, and for good reasons too..................

Sorry, I don't often put my tuppence ha'penny worth on here but this time I just had to !!

The most important question now is: How do we ensure the TWO DAY SHOW lives up to our highest expectation EVERY YEAR? - We deserve NO LESS. The exhibitors MUST come first, without them we have NO SHOWS.
I am fed up with our routine failure to grasp the core issues of our Show Scene - WHAT THE EXHIBITORS WANT - WE SHOULD GIVE THEM - is that asking too much??? Committees organise and arrange SHOWS for the EXHIBITORS, at least I thought they did. Sometimes. and all too frequently I feel some committees forget this FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENT.  If and when they can bring themselves around, our Show Scene here in the UK will begin to improve.

Hi All,

By the sound of it I obviously made the right decision to stay away. Although the news phoned through to me by the excited and thrilled co-owners of Kassieger Verona (3rd in MPB) was at the time very gladly recieved, if only for them and the hard work I know they have put into her (newbies to the show scene toboot). As you have all critisised the standard of judging and rubbished the opinion of the judges (and as some put it especially the bitch judge) , am I now to assume her placing was worthless, unwarranted, undeserved ?

When you enter any show ,but esp the Two day National you expect competent judging. You would expect them to know how to run a class. You would expect that the commitee would pick judges from abroad that would judge at our supposed PREIMIER show and know that every dog needs its teeth checking. That you cant measure a dog against the side of your leg. That when you run two dogs together that the fastest isnt  the best??????You had to see it to believe it.

hi  sue b

there has been no one saying that the placing was wrong it was the way that the bitch judge got to his placings and the things he did that were so stupid i have not read anywhere that anyone has said anything about where he put what so keep your hair on girl and keep getting excited about your placing in mpb.

Jim h, Thank You for your reply, as I wasnt there myself I thought I had better ask because I never comment on shows I didnt attend, just listen to what others have to say and form the best opinion I can from who says what.

As for keeping my hair on, there was never any danger of me losing a single strand over this, though loss of excitement for any placing in the current show scene, now theres another story.

All the Best

I have received even more phone calls and emails from people who DID attend, and it was clearly a NIGHTMARE.

We cannot allow this to happen at our Championship Shows and certainly NOT at our TWO DAY SHOW.

I call on ALL FOUR CLUBS that host our TWO DAY SHOW to convene an urgent meeting and SORT OUT ITS FUTURE!.

THIS CAN NEVER BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN EVER AGAIN.

Karen, I know how much you put into our breed here in the UK, EVERYONE should understand how devastating it must have been for you and Ryan and many other exhibitors to have experienced out PREMIER TWO DAY SHOW - IN SCOTLAND this year. I sent £100 spondorship money, even though I did not enter, because I wanted it to be a HUGE SUCCESS.
WE need to look after ALL our EXHIBITORS, they are our future, they are what matters, they offer us all our BEST hope. Without EXHIBITORS we have NOTHING.

Karen, once again I couldnt agree with you more, but such complaints, as described above, of incompetant judging always seem to be made in relation to foreing juges, yet these are the very judges the majority of you want to show under, regardless of there expertise.

My apologies as I just had to smile at seeing more concern being made on the other thread about the need to know who the British Sieger Show Helpers are, so that their Helping skills can be sussed out and/or practised on prior to the show. Sorry but when  it now seems apparent many were prepared to spend hundreds of pounds travelling to a show without  (apparently) having any prior knowledge of the skills of the judges albeit their names have been known for almost a year, I just have to admit the irony of which I found somewhat amusing.  Again, knowing it is no laughing matter, my apologies.

Wishing you all the Best

Sue
