I used to feed Canidae. I wasn't impressed with the coats and my dog who was very active, got the filled anal gland problem, (can't think of the proper name at this moment.)  Anyway, I read it was due to, too much grain in the diet.  I now feed chicken soup dog food, and am having good results.  Nice shiny coat, and so far no anal problems.  I do add yogurt, and give Vit. C also.

Yes, wild dogs do eat the intestines, but the grain in there is minimal, actually it is mostly grass in rabbits etc. and grass has vit. C.,,, maybe that is where wild dogs/wolves/coyotes etc get there vit C from!  Just my thoughts.

I heard about Canidae switching their formula through the lady that I buy from, she is an AKC judge
and breeds English Cocker Spaniels, she needs her dogs to look their best, she also feeds raw.

She told me one day Canidae was switching their formula, and taking 5 pounds away from the bag,
and raising the price, wow, what a deal

I also feed raw along with Kibble, but I did notice when they switched my dogs stools were softer, and
lighter colored, so the lady told me she was switching to Fromm dog food, they have a formula called
Fromm Gold that my dogs just love, it has duck, chicken, lamb whole eggs & cheese in it, my dogs must
love the taste, no one has turned their noses up so far....
and they're looking good!!!!

I get a bigger bag for less money,

Here's there link:  www.frommfamily.com

I knew about the formula change MONTHS in advance of when it occured. ixing the new with the old was TOTALLY possible. That is what I did "just in case" and my 3 are doing just as well on the new as they did on the old. Everything is the same coats, weight ect..., INCLUDING the "out put". (And Canidae doesn't have "sweet" potato in it.)

I phoned Canidae about any changes. I was told they are not changing any of the food.

I knew about the change too way in advance and changed over VERY slowly and really had the confidence that the new food would be fine.  I was wrong.  Didn't work for either dog.  One 5 yrs old with EPI and the other 1 and 1/2 yrs with no issues.  Like I said, they are doing fine now on TOW, but was just wondering if anyone is trying the new Canidae GRAIN FREE.  Doesn't look like it.................

Johnsk9, The change occured last year. (Several months ago. Not at the end of the year.) If you will notice, this thread was started in July.
