I think the best "performance"  of the day was Charlie raring back and yelling POOOKEN, or something similar on the courage test, it was an absolute hoot.!!!!!!!!!!!

Nia,

I had asked earlier about videos, it sounded like it was being taped and the videos would be available for purchase.  (Or DVD's or whatever they are now days.  )  You can bet this is one I will be getting!

Me, too!! I checked the website for memorabilia and it is on Paypal--a thing I avoid like the plague (I get too much spam and scams related to Paypal to trust it).

Like everyone else, I braved the heat yesterday!!  A very good day, enjoyed myself thoroughly, even found me a new place to buy some training items - Hallmarkk9.   The owner, Jim, I believe he has been on a few World teams from what some people have said when I asked about him - for those who were asking earlier about who the tracklayers were for this event, Jim was the tracking coordinator for this event, Ernest Chambers, Chris Carr and Kumiko were the tracklayers.   Anyway, a good day/good competiton!   Congrats to the competitors, judges and organizers!!!!

Okay, this is unofficial, based off the math in my head :) so wait for other reports or the final scores to be posted on the website tonight....

Helmut Reiser 284

John Jabina 283 (high protection - 98)

T Floyd 281

I'm not sure who had high obedience. The highest on my sheet was Todd Shilkret with 94 but I didn't have all the scores listed.

There were 4 who scored 99 in tracking on Friday.

There was a lot of whispering where I was sitting as to why Ivan's protection score was so low (87, I think). If anyone was there, can you explain why people questioned the score? I know very little about scoring, I just like to watch the teams perform. I thought it should have been higher but it's not something I am schooled in.

Dogs seemed slower today - heat index was 105 again but it felt much hotter, the sun came out of the clouds much sooner than yesterday. All in all a spectaular event!

Because the dog was so beautiful!  (LOL)  [Ok, I'm kidding, for those of you who miss it.]  But yes, a couple people JOKED that in both OB and Protection they thought that particular dog was scored a little low, based on the scores given to other dogs, and that must be why, because it certainly is a beautiful GSD.

I bought way too much. Couldn't figure out why John Soares' score was low. I watched but didn't see any biggies. Can someone explain?

I bought too much myself!  LOL

I can't say enough about the service with Hallmark K9.  Whenever you order something online, you have it quickly and exchanges/returns are not a problem.  I buy a lot of my stuff from Jim.

I couldn't quite figure Ivan's score either in protection, but I do know that the judge giving the critique commented A LOT on the chewing of the sleeve and that seemed to be what ticked off the points for Ivan.  That dog had a beautiful blind search, the only one that looked in each and every blind.  I initially thought that T.'s protection score was going to be higher, but again not being on the field I could not see the mouthing of the sleeve that the judge was seeing.  I think that the crowd thought that T had taken the lead at that point too.

We brought a pop up into the stands today and boy what a difference!

I think that Todd took high obedience.....

As far as Ivan's obedience, it was very nice to watch.  The main deduction was on the meter jump, the dog hit the jump going over and coming back.  I think that can be up to a 5 point deduction, correct me if I am wrong.  The dog also had a very slight anticipation of the running down.

I think that the dogs showed more "energy" today in the afternoon vs. yesterday.
