i would have to guess the people selling these dogs to "brokers" are more than happy with the money they are getting for what they consider a hobby.  cant you hear them talking right now.

her  "honey you go out and get those dogs a schutzhund title so we can sell them for a few thousand euro"

him "but i have to work all day, and you want me to come home and work dogs"

her " if we get good enough at it, you wont have to work at the factory all day,  we can sell dogs"

dont think for a minute that the dog business is any different in any other country  than it is here in the U.S.

to a majority of the world, dogs are dogs, and money is money.

i will get off my soapbox now,

john

A person in my club actually bought a GSD from here.  Spent about 20K.  The dog is a very nice confirmation dog, black and red with nice structure.  I have worked the dog several times in bitework and he works well.  He is definately not equipment orientated and keyed on the man.  He bites full with a medium hard grip.  He is probably everything the owner wanted or expected.  My opinion, not hard enough in the bite work for my liking, not enough spark or drive in obedience, but nice for a conformation dog.  I would never pay anywhere near that much for that dog.  But I like working line GSD's and he doesn't compare to my Dante x Anita male.  He is however a very nice dog with a very nice temperment and the owner thinks he is the greatest.  He is not what I would want for a police K-9 or PPD, but again the owner doesn't understand what a truly hard tough dog is and couldn't handle one.  They have the money to spend and the dog has a great home.

There is another individual who spent 45k on a malinois.  Some of our K-9 guys offered to work the dog at one of our trainings, but the guy wasn't interested in bringing his dog out.  We just wanted to see a 45k malinois.

I knew a guy in Miami, that would buy dogs the breeder couldnt sell at $500. Purchase the dogs at $300.00 a pup for the whole litter. Then sell the at $1,500 a pup. He called himself the master of Bull shitting.

I once witnessed a German owner turn down $500K cash for a dog that just went V-A that day. His reasoning? "I am never going to live long enough to have another dog like this one."  Makes sense to me. The buyers were from Japan, and the man clearly loved his dog, as did the dog his owner.

Yes, Dearies, there are still a few things moeny can't buy.
