Blitzen, can you please post the link to your gait discussion and photos from the black board (I think it was ShepherdWorld?) You were using photos of malamutes and huskies with excellent level movement and also I believe there were some standardbred horses included.
My computer doesn't access that site well.

The standard calls for the rear foot to pass the front foot when gaiting,(trotting), so that the footprint of the back foot is ahead of the footprint of the front foot, doesn't it? How can that happen without crossover? And should the back feet pass the front feet both on the same side, or both rear feet be outside of the front..??? I saw a wonderful video of a German dog trotting, with narrative in German, that some kind & knowledgeable person here had provoded the link for, & I believe that his feet were crossing over so that both back feet passed the front to the same side, ie: rear right foot passed to the left of right front, & left rear foot passed to the left of left front foot...I have always wondered why that wouldn't become a diagonal gait,(is that called crabbing?) And who was that handsome dog, if anyone knows the link I'm referring to? I watch my dogs, take pictures to try to catch thier gaits, but haven't been too successful. So I must ask you folks, & rely upon your wisdom. Thanks! jackie harris

Jackie, that was Dingo v Haus Gero. I think that link is on the Esterhaus (sp?) website and it was posted here a month or 2 ago. Dingo was an outstanding mover. Gait is complicated and differs from breed to breed.
Saxtonhill, I am about the worst when it comes to doing stuff like that, but I'll try. My first mentor in dogs, a rough Collie man, told me to not watch the dog's legs and feet initially, watch it's withers and if they bounce or roll, looking any farther would only be a waste of valuable time LOL.

Louise, cute pup!

If you take a look at the video for Quinn on the Estahuas site, you'll see the American GSD breeders don't have a monopoly on hockwalkers!

Blitzen,
The Dingo on the Estahaus website Us not Dingo vom Haus Gero--hardly. This male is Dingo vom Haus Würdemann--imported and owned by Bill Leonard. If memory serves, I believe that the dog may have been handled by Jimmy Moses at AKC shows. From looking at this video, I would say that this dog also appears to be a hockwalker.

Oh darn, I thought that was the site that showed the video of the "other" Dingo. I didn't look at the video until now, not the one that was linked here before. Maybe I can find it or maybe whoever first posted it here will read this and so it again.
